Burgess, Mr. Coghill, Ms. Gross, Mrs. Harris, Mr. Kraus, Mr. Lavelle, Mr. O'Connor, Mrs. Kail-Smith, and Mrs. Strassburger PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE PROCLAMATIONS 2018-0750 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby celebrate the dedication of Paul Carey and his commitment to the South Craig Street business district, the Oakland community, and the entire city of Pittsburgh and wishes him the best during his retirement; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 24th, 2018 to be “Paul Carey Day” in the City of Pittsburgh. The motion carried. 2018-0751 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does recognize and celebrate the work of the Allegheny County Coalition for Recovery and honors First Responders for their invaluable service to our community; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare to Tuesday, July 24th, 2018 to be “Allegheny County Coalition for Recovery and First Responders Day” in the City of Pittsburgh. City of Pittsburgh Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes July 24, 2018 2018-0753 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh urges President Donald Trump to respect the sovereignty of the Cuban people and renew productive and cooperative mutual engagement with Cuba and re-open a fully operational Embassy in Havana and allow Cuba to restore all diplomatic staff and services at their Washington, D.C. Embassy; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh urges the Congress to pass the strategic pieces of legislation that would completely repeal the blockade and travel ban and that this Resolution be sent to the White House, Members of Congress, National Conference of Mayors, state and local legislative entities, and be promoted publicly.
