Together with Pittsburgh residents, we commit ourselves to working to make our city a model for human rights, where there is dignity and justice for everyone; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, December 10th, 2018 to be “International Human Rights Day” in the City of Pittsburgh. Enactment No: 857 City of Pittsburgh Page 3 City Council Meeting Minutes December 11, 2018 2018-1204 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares its support for the resettlement of refugees no matter their religion, race, nationality, or country of origin, in the United State and calls on other communities to join them in supporting a stronger national effort to resettle the most vulnerable refugees; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby calls on President Donald Trump to raise the refugee admissions cap to a level that better meets the growing number of persons forced to flee their country because of persecution, war, or violence.
