Grove Avenue, Rantoul, Illinois Present: David Sherrick – Commission Chairman Jose Igartua – Commission Member Chief Tony Brown – Rantoul Police Department Deputy Chief Justin Bouse – Rantoul Police Department Deputy Chief Rodney Sullivan – Rantoul Police Department Hailey Braden – Recording Secretary 1. Chairman Sherrick called the meeting to order at 1:07 p.m. 2. Public Comments a. No public comments. 3. Approve Minutes a. Commissioner Igartua made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Chairman Sherrick seconded the motion. The Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes as written. 4. Old Business a. Chairman Sherrick motioned to approve the changes made to section 3.4 of the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commission regarding police applicants that fail to show up to scheduled appointments during the hiring process. Commissioner Igartua seconded the motion. The Board voted unanimously to approve the amendment of the Rules and Regulations. b. Chief Brown advised that there are currently two officers enrolled at the Police Training Institute, and he is hoping to secure an opening in the September class. Deputy Chief Sullivan added that as we remain on the wait list for September, there are two openings secured for the January class. They are expecting to have a new hire by September and anticipate another by January in preparation for a potential retirement. 5. New Business a. Deputy Chief Bouse suggested there be a discussion of the promotional test process at the next meeting. b. Deputy Chief Sullivan mentioned that the commissioners should expect to have a panel interview for police applicants scheduled in August. 6. Other Business a. The next quarterly meeting of the Rantoul Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is scheduled for Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Rantoul Police Department. 7. Adjournment a. A motion was made by Chairman Sherrick to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Igartua seconded the motion. The Board voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 1:20 p.m. 1 2
