Grove Avenue, Rantoul, Illinois Present: David Sherrick – Commission Chairman Brian Schurter – Commission Member Deputy Chief Justin Bouse – Rantoul Police Department Hailey Braden – Recording Secretary 1. Commissioner Schurter called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. 2. Public Comments a. No public comments. 3. Approve Minutes a. Commissioner Schurter made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Chairman Sherrick seconded the motion. The Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes as written. 4. Old Business a. Nothing Noted. 5. New Business a. Deputy Chief Bouse gave an update on the new hires and where they are at in the current hiring process. He informed the Board that Officer Casey Smith will be off probation in December. Officer Katelyn Riffle has successfully completed her FTO program and is on her own. Officer Richard Little graduated PTI in August and is in phase 2 of his FTO program. Lateral hires, Officer Kaleb Kraft and Officer Kyle Schlorff, have both successfully completed their accelerated FTO program and are on their own. He, also, mentioned that they have begun another round of testing & interviews with hopes to hire one candidate to send to the January PTI class. 6. Other Business a. The next quarterly meeting of the Rantoul Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Rantoul Police Department. 7. Adjournment a. A motion was made by Chairman Scherrick to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Schurter seconded the motion. The Board voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 1:15 p.m.
