Grove Avenue, Rantoul, Illinois Present: David Sherrick – Commission Chairman Jose Igartua – Commission Member Chief Tony Brown – Rantoul Police Department Deputy Chief Rodney Sullivan – Rantoul Police Department Sergeant Dustin Morgan – Rantoul Police Department Hailey Braden – Recording Secretary 1. Chairman Sherrick called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. 2. Public Comments a. No public comments. 3. Approve Minutes a. Chairman Sherrick made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Commissioner Igartua seconded the motion. The Board voted unanimously to approve the minutes as written. 4. Old Business a. Nothing Noted 5. New Business a. Deputy Chief Sullivan informed the Board that Connor Williams has accepted a conditional offer pending the results of his psychological and physical exam. Two other applicants have submitted background packets, but they are looking at a potential lateral hire before deciding to move forward with one of them. b. Deputy Chief Sullivan advised that the current Sergeant promotional list will be expiring in December so dates for the written exam and oral interviews would need to be set at the October meeting, if not sooner. Chief Brown added that he would be reaching out to other agencies to establish a panel for the oral interviews. c. Regarding the rules & regulations pertaining to applicants’ eligibility to reapply based on their background status, Chairman Sherrick suggested having the discussed ammendment written up for approval at the October meeting. 6. Other Business a. The next quarterly meeting of the Rantoul Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Rantoul Police Department. 7. Adjournment a. A motion was made by Chairman Scherrick to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Igartua seconded the motion. The Board voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 1:12 p.m.
