RES19-2694 A Resolution Authorizing the Waiving of Bids for Three 2019 Ford F-250 Trucks for the Village Department of Parks and Recreation with Landmark Ford, Incorporated per the State of Illinois Contract #4018300 This Resolution was Approved. 5. MAYOR'S REPORT Thoughts and prayers out to those affected by the tragedy in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday. The Hero Helps Community Summit will be held at the Athletic and Event Center on May 3rd. The Governor will be in attendence at this event. Rotary will be recognizing the high school seniors who are in the top 10% of their class on May 8th. Congratulations to those students. The Police Department will be holding their awards ceremony on May 9th. The Community Garage Sale will be held on May 11th from 8-4. Clean up Week will be held the week of May 13th through 17th. Our first Park Party will be held on May 14th at Malibu Bay Park. Congratulations to his wife for running her first half marathon this past weekend. PH19-2300 Public Hearing-Annexation Agreement (Weber and Gaskin-Amerco Real Estate Company-Proposed U-Haul Developemnt) A motion was made by Trustee Chavez, seconded by Trustee Griffin, to open the public hearing. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 7- Trustee Chavez, Trustee Palmiter, Trustee Griffin, Trustee Richards, Trustee Clancy, Mayor Noak, and Trustee Aguirre 19-2614 Proclamation Designating National Police Week 2019 Chief Turvey stated that Police work is a rewarding career but could also be a stressful and dangerous profession. 163 Police Officers died in the line of duty in 2018 and 35 have died thus far this year. Romeoville has a great group of dedicted men and women who serve the Village. Mayor Noak stated that our Police Force is wonderful. We also have many residents who serve in other capacities such as State Police and County Police. A motion was made by Trustee Palmiter, seconded by Trustee Clancy, that this Proclamation be Accepted. CITIZEN'S, COMMITTEES, COMMISSIONS AND LIAISON REPORTS Trustee Aguirre-Police and Fire Commission/Uptown Development Village of Romeoville Page 5 Printed on 5/29/2019 Village Board Meeting Minutes May 1, 2019 The next Police and Fire Commission meeting will be May 14th. Trustee Richards-Planning and Zoning/Zoning Board of Appeals/REMA The next Planning and Zoning Commission meeting scheduled for May 14th has been cancelled. Trustee Clancy-Beautification/Parks and Recreation The Poster Contest winners are on display at the Recreation Center. A Beautification update was given. Trustee Griffin-Veteran's Commission/EDC The Veteran's Commission is having a fundraiser this weekend in front of Tasty Waffle for the scholarship fund. We will be awarding our two scholarships at the RHS Awards Ceremony on May 16th. Trustee Palmiter-Special Events/Humane Society/Finance The Special Events Commission will be meeting July 16th. The Finance Committee will be meeting next Wednesday. Trustee Chavez-Youth Outreach/Vor-Tv The Youth Outreach Commission will be awarding two scholarships at the upcoming high school awards ceremony. The next meeting will be June 3rd. 8. VILLAGE MANAGER'S REPORT We have received a lot of rain; Public Works is out cleaning catch basins. Also, we have received warnings regarding the Des Plaines River. We are monitoring this very carefully. 9. BOARD COMMENTS Trustee Chavez- We passed a public nuisance ordinance today regarding standing water on sidewalks. He is glad we passed this. The Community Garage Sale is May 11th. Join us for fireworks at Mistwood on May 26th. It is a great event. The first Park Party is May 14th. SAC donates the refreshments for these events. We passed the street maintenance resolutions, so work will be beginning. Trustee Palmiter- I attended the RHS Choir Open Mic Event, it was a great night. Trustee Griffin- Happy Cinco De Mayo. Happy Mother's Day. Well wishes to those observing Ramadan. Congratulations to the Grand Haven Veteran's Club on their successful dinner dance. September 9th is the Disabled Veteran's Golf Outing. Glad that we are getting the Public Works building going. Trustee Richards- Attended the Veteran's Club Spring Dinner Dance. It was a great event. The RHS Drum Theater will be performing next week for two nights. Trustee Aguirre- Remember our officers during Police Week. Thoughts to the victims of all of the recent tragedies. She is thankful for all of the paths. Be cognizant of your surroundings with the weather breaking there are more people out and about. Congratulations to Jeni. Attended the Chamber After Hours at The Romeoville Arts Society. Heather Jelic runs this, they have a lot of talent. 11. EXECUTIVE SESSION None 12.
