The Public Safety Committee will hold its regular meeting in the Council Briefing Room at City
Hall beginning at 9:00 AM. Once convened, the Public Safety Committee will take up the
following items no sooner than the designated times.
Members of the public can comment or speak on items on the agenda. Public comment will be
scheduled during the meeting by the Chair. If an individual signs up to speak on one or more
items, all comments will be heard at the same time. To sign up to speak visit
www.saspeakup.com. Click on meetings and events and select the meeting you’d like to
participate in. Sign up to speak or submit a written comment. Questions relating to these rules

Once a quorum is established, the Public Safety Committee shall consider the following:

1. Approval of minutes from the March 17, 2025 Public Safety Committee Meeting

2. Briefing and possible action on a San Antonio Police Department Grant award in an amount
up to $349,576.00 from the U.S. Department of Justice Edward Byrne Memorial Justice
Assistance Grant (JAG) Program to support the Child Welfare Strategic Alliance Program
and authorizing an interlocal agreement with Bexar County regarding the distribution of
grant funds and the designation of Bexar County as the grant fiscal agent for the period of
October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2027. [María Villagómez, Deputy City Manager;

3. Briefing and possible action on a San Antonio Police Department grant in an amount not to
exceed $1,750,000.00 for the Comprehensive Selective Traffic Enforcement Program
(STEP) Grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the period of
October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. [María Villagómez, Deputy City Manager;

4. Briefing and possible action on a San Antonio Police Department grant application to the
Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority (MVCPA) for funds from the Regional Auto
Crimes Taskforce Project to fund innovative enforcement and theft prevention techniques in

Briefing and Possible Action on
5. Council Consideration Request by Councilmember Marina Alderete Gavito (District 7) on a
Bird Sanctuary Designation. [David W. McCary, Assistant City Manager; Jon Gary,

6. Status of the Good Neighbor Program. [María Villagómez, Deputy City Manager; Maria
Vargas, Director, Integrated Community Safety Office]
7. San Antonio Police Department Crime Data for January 2025 through March 2025. [María
Villagómez, Deputy City Manager; William P. McManus, Chief of Police]
Executive Session
At any time during the meeting, the Committee may meet in executive session for consultation
with the City Attorney's Office concerning attorney client matters under Chapter 551 of the
Texas Government Code.
