Recommendation: Defer this item to the June 13, 2019 Neighborhood Services and
Education Committee meeting.

1. CC 19-058 Report on Citywide Expanded Learning Programs. (Library / Parks,
Recreation and Neighborhood Services)
Recommendation: 1. Review and provide feedback on the application of the California
Afterschool Network Quality Standards in all City-funded, operated, or
endorsed Expanded Learning programs; and
2. Accept the Expanded Learning Quality Standards report and
recommend adoption of the California Afterschool Network Quality
Standards for all City-funded, operated, or endorsed Expanded Learning
programs at the April 30, 2019 Council meeting;
3. Direct staff to return to the Neighborhood Services and Education
Committee in Spring 2020 to report on progress implementing the
California Afterschool Network Quality Standards, as well as plans for
the 2020 Summer programs.

2. CC 19-059 Status Update on Citywide Public Life Efforts. (Parks, Recreation and
Neighborhood Services)
Recommendation: Accept the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department's
status update on Citywide public life efforts, including recent citywide
achievements and prospective opportunities in San José.

3. CC 19-060 Community Center Reuse Program Update. (Parks, Recreation and
Neighborhood Services)
Recommendation: a. Accept the staff report on the status of the Community Center Reuse
Program; and
b. Accept the Reuse Policy Work Plan and direct staff to return to the
Neighborhood Services and Education Committee in October 2019 with
a report on the progress of implementing the work plan and audit
recommendations.
