embarking on a trip to Spain in October. For more informaon and to register for upcoming
events at the Park District call 847-490-7026 or visit htps://www.parkfun.com/programs-
events/seniors. Other ways to receive informaon on the Park District’s events are to sign-up for
their newsleter. Co-chair Bernadete suggested pung informaon on how to sign-up for the
Park District newsleter in the brochure in case new members are unaware.
Co-chair Kim Ketel reported on events that are taking place at Schaumburg Township. These
include a Senior Music Night on June 17 from 6-8 p.m. with a cost of $15 per person. The
Township is remodeling the senior services office in the building as they were damaged by a

as answer any quesons COA members have on services offered at the township. For more

Co-chair Bernadete Sigl suggested geng a representave from the Schaumburg Township
Library to inform the commitee on events and programs offered by the library.
2. New Ideas for 2025-2026: Deferred.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
1. Review and Discuss Distribuon of New Senior Resource Directory: Chairperson Sigl thanked
all the COA members for their efforts in updang the newly printed Senior Resource Directory
(SRD), nong that the new edion looks great. The SRD will be reprinted every two years.
Marina Lvovich said she received posive feedback from seniors who have received copies of
the directory. Copies will be distributed at various local organizaons where seniors can easily
pick one up, including the Barn, the Park District, Schaumburg Township Library, Schaumburg
Township, local churches, the Village of Schaumburg Nursing Division, and other senior
service agencies and groups that help connect older adults with valuable resources. Diane
Shore suggested placing the SRD at the temporary Village Hall parcularly at the water billing
department as many older adults sll pay their water bills in person.
2. New Medical Advances and Preventave Measures Presentaon: Co-Chair Kim Ketel shared
that her contact at Ascension Hospital is no longer available. In response, Kathy Henkelman
noted she has a new lead and will share the informaon with Co-Chair Ketel to support
connued program planning. Co-Chair Ketel proposed the idea of co-hosng Schaumburg
Township’s upcoming health presentaons with Nurse Janet. The COA would help promote
the events and contribute by providing raffles. The scheduled presentaons, which are
relevant and beneficial to older adults, include:
2
• Wednesday, November 5: Inflammation and the Anti-Inflammatory Diet
• Wednesday, December 3: How to Survive the Holidays
Both will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
3. Analysis of Spring Fling and Selected Meal Choice: The event took place on May 6, from
11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Schaumburg Township. The cost of the lunch is $8 per person, with
the Commitee on Aging subsidizing $5 per meal. Co-chairs Bernadete Sigl and Kim Ketel
stated that the event was very well atended with over 100 seniors atendees who enjoyed a
catered lunch from Chandler’s followed by prize Bingo. Kathy Ray added that the COA should
follow the pre-determined schedule and start the event at the assigned me of 11:30 a.m.
instead of allowing early commers in as that interrupts set-up me and will set a bad example
for future events. Ms. Ray also suggested that Bingo cards be handed out at another locaon
other than at the front door as it causes a back up as they are checking in. Kathy Marnez
replied that the cards can be set up for distribuon at another table or handed out by COA
members to resolved this issue. Co-chair Kim Ketel suggested for future events to have a
start me of the event and when the doors will be opened to allow atendees to come in.
4. Discuss Western Themed Luncheon: Name, Flyer, Food Choice, and Acvies- Co-Chair Kim
Ketel proposed naming the upcoming event “Western Round-Up.” It will be held on Tuesday,
August 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Community Recreaon Center (CRC), 505 N.
Springinsguth Rd. Weather perming, the event will take place outdoors, with an indoor
backup plan if needed. The event will be coordinated by a sub-commitee co-chaired by Kim
Ketel and composed of Kathy Ray, Kathy KoslaMarnez, and Alex Bonarigo. Alex noted that
the Schaumburg Park District will provide industrial mobile grills, tents, tables, chairs, and
staff support. Acvies will include western-themed country music, trivia, and a “Best
Western Dressed” contest to create a fun and engaging atmosphere. Co-Chair Kim Ketel has
confirmed entertainer Denise Armour to perform at the event. Cost: $10 per person. Menu
opons: Hamburger, cheeseburger, veggie burger, or hot dog, served with sides of baked
beans, chips, watermelon, and drinks. Marina Lvovich will coordinate with the Village of
