SUBJECT: Discussion of Fiscal Year 2026–2027 Senior Center Events,
Programs, and Classes
SUMMARY OF ISSUE
Staff have developed a draft calendar of special events and programs for the upcoming fiscal
year. The calendar is intentional in balancing a mix of social, educational, wellness, volunteer
appreciation, intergenerational, and seasonal programming.
While many of these events have been successful in previous years, we want to continually
evaluate programming to make sure it reflects the interests and needs of current and future
participants.
The draft calendar is a starting point for discussion and planning. Throughout the upcoming
fiscal year, staff will continue to evaluate program participation, community feedback, and the
results of the Senior Center survey to keep programming in line with the interests and needs of
the community.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact on this discussion.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff are seeking the Board's feedback on the draft calendar and would like to discuss future
programming opportunities, keeping in mind limited resources.
Topics for discussion could include:
• Are there events that should be expanded, modified, or replaced?
• Are there new traditions or annual events the Board would like to see introduced?
• Are there educational topics, workshops, or guest speakers that would benefit Senior
Center participants?
• Are there opportunities to partner with local organizations, schools, businesses, or
nonprofits?
• How can programming better serve both current participants and attract new members?
• Are there seasonal celebrations, cultural events, or community service opportunities
that should be added?
• Are there additional health, wellness, technology, fitness, arts, or recreational classes
the Board would recommend?
• Are there opportunities to increase intergenerational programming and family
participation?
