CALL TO ORDER The City Council of The City of Seattle met in Special Session in the Council Chamber in City Hall in Seattle, Washington, on October 4, 2017, pursuant to the provisions of the City Charter. The meeting was called to order at 5:05 p.m., with Council President Pro Tem Rob Johnson presiding. B. ROLL CALL Present: 7 - Bagshaw, González , Herbold, Johnson, Juarez, O'Brien, Sawant Excused: 1 - Harrell C. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA Motion was made, duly seconded and carried, to adopt the proposed Agenda. D. PRESENTATIONS Council Position 8 applicants were provided each three minutes to make a presentation to the Council in the following order: 1. Tiniell Cato 2. Kirsten Harris-Talley 3. Lewis Jones 4. PUBLIC HEARING At 5:50 p.m., the Public Hearing was opened to allow members of the public an opportunity to provide up to two minutes each to address the Council on the City Council Position 8 applicants. The Public Hearing concluded at 6:11 p.m. F. Page 2 Full Council Agenda October 4, 2017 Notice of Seattle City Council Public Hearing on the Vacancy of Council Position 8 Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. City Council Chambers, City Hall, Floor 2 600 4th Avenue, Seattle WA 98104 The Seattle City Council will hold a special meeting and public hearing as part of the Council Position 8 application process. At this meeting, applicants to fill Position 8 will be provided three minutes to present to the City Council, and members of the public will be provided an opportunity to comment on the applicants. Public Hearing Information The public hearing will begin at the conclusion of applicant presentations. Individual comments will be limited to two (2) minutes or less. In the interest of time, members of groups, organizations or coalitions with similar interests will have the option to combine their presentations. Group presentations with four or more people will be limited to five (5) minutes. Those wishing to provide public comment at the public hearing must sign up on sheets provided outside the entry of the City Council Chambers beginning at 4:30 p.m. The public hearing will be cablecast live on Seattle Channel 21 and webcast at http://www.seattle.gov/council/watch-council-live. Application Process Information relating to the City Council vacancy process can be found on the Office of the City Clerk’s website http://www.seattle.gov/cityclerk/council-vacancy and in Resolution 31778 at http://seattle.legistar.com/Legislation.aspx. Written Comments Written comments are welcome up to the date the Council votes to fill the vacancy via: USPS mail to Councilmember Johnson, Attn: Emilia Sanchez, Deputy City Clerk, PO Box 94728, Seattle, WA 98124-4728; or fax to (206) 386-9025; or e-mail to Council@seattle.gov. Page 3 Full Council Agenda October 4, 2017 Pay Parking Pay parking is available in the SeaPark Garage located between Cherry and James Streets and 5th and 6th Avenues. Those attending the public hearing receive a discounted rate of $5.00. Notify the garage cashier that you attended the City Council public hearing and you will receive the special rate. Please note that this discount only applies to vehicles entering the garage after 4:00 p.m. and the garage closes at 10:00 p.m. Disabled parking spaces are available below City Hall for those with state-issued disabled parking permits.
