CALL TO ORDER The City Council of The City of Seattle met in the Council Chamber in City Hall in Seattle, Washington, on October 23, 2017, pursuant to the provisions of the City Charter. The meeting was called to order at 2:03 p.m., with Council President Harrell presiding. B. ROLL CALL Present: 9 - Bagshaw, González , Harrell, Harris-Talley, Herbold, Johnson, Juarez, O'Brien, Sawant C. ADOPTION OF INTRODUCTION AND REFERRAL CALENDAR IRC 132 October 23, 2017 Motion was made, duly seconded and carried, to adopt the proposed Introduction & Referral Calendar (IRC) by the following vote: In Favor: 9 - Bagshaw, González , Harrell, Harris-Talley, Herbold, Johnson, Juarez, O'Brien, Sawant Opposed: None D. PRESENTATIONS Councilmember Herbold presented a Proclamation recognizing October as Filipino American History Month. By unanimous consent, the Council Rules were suspended to allow Councilmember Herbold to present the Proclamation,and to allow members of the Filipino-American Community to address the Council. Councilmember Herbold acknowledged Miguel Fraga, Secretary of the Cuban Embassy, who was in attendance at the Full Council meeting. By unanimous consent, the Council Rules were suspended to allow Mr. Fraga to address the Council. G. PUBLIC COMMENT There was none. H. PAYMENT OF BILLS Page 2 Full Council Meeting Minutes October 23, 2017 CB 119097 AN ORDINANCE appropriating money to pay certain audited claims and ordering the payment thereof. Motion was made and duly seconded to pass Council Bill 119097. The Motion carried, the Council Bill (CB) was passed by the following vote, and the President signed the Bill: In Favor: 9 - Bagshaw, González , Harrell, Harris-Talley, Herbold, Johnson, Juarez, O'Brien, Sawant Opposed: None I. COMMITTEE REPORTS FULL COUNCIL 1. Res 31780 A RESOLUTION setting the public hearing on the petition of the Seattle Department of Transportation for the vacation of portions of Broad Street, 8th Avenue North, and Mercer Street in the area bounded by Mercer Street, Dexter Avenue North, Roy Street, and 9th Avenue North in the South Lake Union area of Seattle, according to Chapter 35.79 of the Revised Code of Washington, Chapter 15.62 of the Seattle Municipal Code, and Clerk File 314309. Motion was made and duly seconded to adopt Resolution 31780. Appt 00790 Reappointment of David G. Jones as City Auditor, for a term from December 14, 2017 to December 13, 2021. The Committee recommends that Full Council confirm the Appointment (Appt). In Favor: 2 - Burgess, Johnson Opposed: None The Appointment (Appt) was confirmed by the following vote: In Favor: 9 - Bagshaw, González , Harrell, Harris-Talley, Herbold, Johnson, Juarez, O'Brien, Sawant Opposed: None The Oath of Office was administered to David Jones by Monica Martinez Simmons, City Clerk, and Mr. Jones addressed the Council.
