A. Call To Order B. Public Hearing The Seattle Select Budget Committee will conduct two public hearings: · The first hearing will solicit public comment on the Seattle Aquarium Expansion and will begin at 5:30 p.m.; and · The second hearing will solicit public comment on the City’s 2019 General Revenue Sources, including a possible property tax levy increase, the Mayor’s 2019 and 2020 Proposed Budgets and 2019-2024 Capital Improvement Program, and will begin at 5:35 p.m. or at the conclusion of the first hearing. The hearing will continue until all in-person comments have been received. In the interest of time, members of groups with similar interests are encouraged to combine their comments. Groups with three or more people will be limited up to five (5) minutes. Individual comments will be limited up to two (2) minutes. C. Page 2 Select Budget Committee Agenda October 23, 2018 Notice of Seattle City Council Public Hearing on the Seattle Aquarium Expansion, 2019 General Revenue Sources, and Mayor’s 2019 and 2020 Proposed Budgets Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. City Council Chambers, City Hall, Floor 2 600 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104 The Seattle City Council Select Budget Committee, chaired by Councilmember Bagshaw, will conduct two public hearings at City Council Chambers on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. The first hearing will solicit public comment on the Seattle Aquarium Expansion and will begin at 5:30 p.m. The second hearing will solicit public comment on the City’s 2019 General Revenue Sources, including a possible property tax levy increase, the Mayor’s 2019 and 2020 Proposed Budgets and 2019-2024 Capital Improvement Program, and will begin at 5:35 p.m. or at the conclusion of the first hearing. Those wishing to provide public comment must sign in on registers issued by the Legislative Department that will be provided outside the entry of the City Council Chambers beginning at 4:30 p.m. Information Available Seattle Aquarium Expansion The Seattle City Council’s Select Budget Committee will hold a public hearing regarding proposed legislation that would adopt a Capital Improvement Project supporting the expansion of the Seattle Aquarium. The Seattle Aquarium is owned by Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation and operated by the non-profit Seattle Aquarium Society (SEAS). SEAS is planning a major expansion to the Aquarium’s existing footprint to add new programming and visitor capacity. This project will provide a new ‘Ocean Pavilion’ that will integrate with improvements made by The Office of the Waterfront along the Central Waterfront. SEAS also intends to make improvements to piers 59 and 60 to improve exhibit space and operations efficiency. Design and construction of the project is led by SEAS and coordinated with City investments by the Parks Department and Office of the Waterfront. Page 3 Select Budget Committee Agenda October 23, 2018 project is part of the overall waterfront improvement program and appropriates City matching funds for SEAS’ project. The City has committed to provide up to $34 million to SEAS for design and construction. This public hearing is required by Section 5 of Resolution 31203, adopted by the City Council in 2010.
