Skokie Board of Health Special Meeting Wednesday, August 2, 2023 6:00 pm Conference Room D&E, Village Hall, 5127 Oakton St, Skokie, IL 60077 MINUTES Present: Dr. Swapna Dave, Heidi Nickisch Duggan, Juliet Haido, Margaret Keeler, Dr. Girija Kalyan Kumar, Dr. Dr. Edward Linn (Chair), Rohit Pandya, Dr. Kyungran Shim, Romil Sood, Irtaza Usman, Ruth Varma, Sibyl Yau; Staff: Mike Charley Excused: Dr. Bruce Gaynes, Maureen Hanlon, Jan Shiffman, Jeremy Schwartz, Patricia Urbanus, Dr. William Werner, Dr. Larry Williams, Trustee Liaison James Johnson, Trustee Liaison Keith Robinson I. Call to Order @ 7:00 pm II. Approval of Agenda: Approved, first by Romil Sood, second by Rohit Pandya III. Approval of Minutes: June 8, 2023: Approved, first by Romil Sood, second by Dr. Swapna Dave IV. Review and Approval of IPLAN Community Health Improvement Plan: Liz Nelson, Public Health Program Coordinator/Analyst for HHS presented an overview of the IPLAN Community Health Needs Assessment process and the Community Health Improvement plan (CHIP). Liz walked through the process, describing that there was a large group of stakeholders that met in-person and selected three public health priority problems to address as part of the IPLAN process: Access to Behavioral Health, Access to Health and Affordable Housing. Liz communicated that as part of the process, data was collected through a data team; that data was used to inform selecting the three priority health issues and were also used to set the priority’s SMART objectives. Action teams were convened to establish objectives for each priority item, and strategies and action steps for each objective. Liz communicated that after the CHIP is approved, our priority Action Teams, Data team and the Skokie Health Equity Health Network steering Document Number: 613223 Version: 1 committee will continue to work on the IPLAN process. Dr. Edward Linn and Rohit Pandya recommended that the Steering committee and action teams ensure they include all school districts moving forward, including the schools in Evanston that serve Skokie residents. It was also recommended by Dr. Swapna Dave that in addition to ensuring FQHCs providing linguistically appropriate care/services, that the services are also culturally appropriate. A motion was made by Romil Sood and seconded by Ruth Varma that the Skokie Community Health Plan is approved and adopted by the Board of Health. A vote was made, and it was unanimous that the plan be approved and adopted. V. Public Comments: No Public Comments VI.
