Intro topic. Where did you go to elementary school?
.
Minutes Jeff moved to accept minutes. Seconded. Approved.
Farmers Market
There are 32 confirmed vendors. Opening day is June 5. Possibly a “grand opening”. Jennifer has confirmed that we
have the reusable green shopping bags to hand out.
Biju has ordered 1000 loyalty cards and is working on a more permanent sign for the stamping vendors.
Awaiting market calendar with special events to see which other commissions could be invited to have a presence at the
market. Joanne to follow up with Mayor’s office.
BOY nomination form
Ann Tennes has forwarded a QR code that can be added to the nomination form (copy attached) or used as a stand
alone scan. Information on the Business of the Year nominations was included in this week’s Village newsletter.
Information is available on Village website, Chamber of Commerce, Farmers Market, Facebook. Joanne is to follow up
with Ann about the possibility of submitting to newspapers. Nominations are not limited to one per person but one per
form.
Skokie Hospital flyer
David Rajiha, President of NorthShore Skokie Hospital forwarded the flyer they have developed in response to our
request. Discussion on how this might be of use to the CAC and Village. Are we currently giving welcome packets to
new residents? If not, should the CAC be instrumental in developing and distributing a welcome packet? Could it be of
use to the Skokie Health Department? Other? Joanne to check with David to see if they are planning on printing them.

Trust Me Media Literacy Education
Michael Spikes and Mariah Cherem from the Skokie Library have had two meetings to discuss what this might look like.
i.e. reshowing the PBS Trust Me, panel to answer questions, ability to have it “checked out”. Maybe a website that
could be updated with links to check out the veracity of on line information. Scams. Joanne has followed up with the
editor of Kane Miller children’s books on the possibility of maybe a picture book to acquaint young children. Joanne will
follow up with Michael to see how CAC can be part of the process.
Miscellaneous
Gary reported that energy companies are again knocking on doors. Warned to be careful. He has reported to the
police.
George reported that he was approached by people he knows about the possibility of having a table at the market once
a month to encourage voting. Not linked to a party or candidate. Asked him to get more information on the
organization.
Ted reported that the car show was resuming at Old Orchard Shopping Center. Every week on Monday evening. First
show June 6. He is on the committee and asked if a car could be parked at the market to inform people that the show
was back. Discussion also about the possibility of reciprocal information distribution. For instance, information about
the market, BOY nomination forms, etc.
Biju reported that the Festival of Cultures is resuming on May 21-22. Does the CAC again want a table?
Shirts and badges need to be ordered for some CAC members. Joanne to get information to Davorka.
Meeting adjourned at 7:52
