SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2021 PRESENT: Chairperson Paul Pitalis, Director of Marketing and Communications Ann Tennes, Police Chief Brian Baker, Alicia Case, Cornell Collins, Leslie Post-Weissinger, Melissa Villegas, Deputy Fire Chief of Operations Nicholas C. Eschner. Director of Public Works Max Slankard, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, Howard Rosenburg, Mitchell Kushner, Vice Chair Mark Penning, Dennis Rizo EXCUSED: Fire Chief Jeff Hoeflich, Linda Perlin, Kenneth Mantel, Paul Kruszynski, Trustee Alison Pure-Slovin, Trustee Edie Sue Sutker, Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld ABSENT: Frank Ippolito, Daniel Fink, Jr., Earl Nicholas, Bryant Smith, Kevin Frampton, Edward McCarthy, Joel Reyes, Marcie Claus CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Paul Pitalis called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. The minutes of the November 17th meeting were approved. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT AND SEASONAL FIRE PREVENTION PRESENTATION The Fire Department report was presented by Deputy Chief Eschner. EMS type calls are the busiest in operational items this month. It was also noted that the Department recently obtained a new Engine. With the on boarding of new fire fighters, training will be the focus in the upcoming months. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Baker presented the Police Department report. Service calls are up eight percent; however, crime is trending low. An update and discussion were had regarding body worn cameras and dash cams. ENGINEERING REPORT Samantha Maximilian, Senior Engineer, gave a presentation on traffic control devices. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS None. ADJOURNMENT At 8:10 p.m. a motion was made to adjourn which was seconded and then passed unanimously.
