SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2022 PRESENT: Chairperson Paul Pitalis, Police Chief Brian Baker, Alicia Case, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Jagman, Marcie Claus, Cornell Collins, Fire Chief Jeff Hoeflich, Frank Ippolito, Paul Kruszynski, Leslie Post-Weissinger, Melissa Villegas, Trustee Edie Sue Sutker, Howard Rosenburg, Vice Chair Mark Penning, Dennis Rizo, Bryant Smith, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian EXCUSED: Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld, Director of Public Works Max Slankard, Trustee Alison Pure-Slovin, Deputy Fire Chief of Operations Nicholas C. Eschner., Linda Perlin ABSENT: Daniel Fink, Jr., Earl Nicholas, Mitchell Kushner, Kevin Frampton, Edward McCarthy, Joel Reyes, Kenneth Mantel, CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Paul Pitalis called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. The minutes of the January 19th meeting were approved. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Baker presented the Police Department report. A presentation on the Police to Citizen Portal was given. Information on the Smart911 program was also given. Chief Baker also gave an update on the Use of Force Policy. The Police Department is officially being trained on the Use of Force Policy that went into effect last July. Further, the Skokie Police Use of Force Review Board has been formally established and had its members appointed. QA discussion followed. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Fire Chief Hoeflich introduced the new Deputy Chief Stephen Jagman. The Fire Department report was presented by Deputy Chief Jagman and Fire Chief Hoeflich. Call volumes were significantly up for January, up by 28 percent mostly attributed to EMS. ENGINEERING REPORT Samantha Maximilian provided an update on various Engineering Division activities and preparation for the 2022 construction season. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS None. ADJOURNMENT At 7:41 p.m. a motion was made to adjourn which was seconded and then passed unanimously.
