SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2024 PRESENT: Police Chief Jesse Barnes, Connell Collins, Fire Chief Jeff Hoeflich, Fred Moore, Chairperson Paul Pitalis, Leslie Post-Weissinger, Trustee Alison Pure-Slovin, Dennis Rizo, Bryant Smith and Vice Chairperson Melissa Villegas, Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld, Ibriham Mansuri, Jeffrey Schvimer, Kimani Levy, Howard Rosenburg EXCUSED: Marcie Claus, Fire DC Op Nicholas Eschner, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Jagman, Paul Kruszynski, Mark Penning, Linda Perlin, Doug Rocklin, Director of Public Works Max Slankard (Staff Liaison), Trustee Edie Sue Sutker and Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, ABSENT: Nicholas Vickers, Scott Ford and Mitchell Kushner CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Pitalis called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. The minutes of the December 20th meeting were approved. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Hoeflich gave the Fire Department Report. 2023 was a record year with respect to call volume. New hires are continuing their training. Busy start to the year with the snow storm and cold temperatures. QA discussion followed. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Barnes introduced himself and gave the Police Department Report. New canine America is being trained and is expected to return in February. PD has been working on reaccreditation. QA discussion followed. ENGINEERING REPORT Russ Rietveld provided the Engineering Report. Work is progressing on the Village’s lead line inventory and lead line replacement plan. Design for 2024 resurfacing and water main projects is wrapping up. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS June 2024 meeting to be held 6/12/24 instead of 6/19/24. Vice Chairperson Villegas was announced as new Vice Chair. ADJOURNMENT At 8:20 p.m. a motion was made to adjourn which was seconded and then passed unanimously.
