SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, MAY 15, 2024 PRESENT: Police Chief Jesse Barnes, Marcie Claus, Connell Collins, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Jagman, Paul Kruszynski, Mitchell Kushner, Ibriham Mansuri, Fred Moore, Chairperson Paul Pitalis, Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld, Doug Rocklin, Howard Rosenburg and Bryant Smith EXCUSED: Fire DC Op Nicholas Eschner, Fire Chief Jeff Hoeflich, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, Mark Penning, Linda Perlin, Trustee Alison Pure-Slovin, Dennis Rizo, Director of Public Works Max Slankard, Trustee Edie Sue Sutker, Jeffrey Schvimer and Vice Chairperson Melissa Villegas ABSENT: Scott Ford, Kimani Levy, Leslie Post-Weissinger and Nicholas Vickers CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Pitalis called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Quorum was established. The minutes of April 17th meeting were approved. The June meeting will be on June 12th due to the Juneteenth holiday. (This was subsequently changed to June 20th due to Shavuot holiday) POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Jesse Barnes presented the Police Department April Report. Three recruits graduated from the police academy and 4 new sergeants have started training. Festival of Cultures is this weekend. Cop on a rooftop is Friday. QA discussion followed. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Deputy Chief Stephen Jagman gave the Fire Department report. QA discussion followed. ENGINEERING REPORT Russ Rietveld presented the 2024 Capital Improvements Projects Map. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS None ADJOURNMENT At 8:03 p.m. a motion was made to adjourn which was seconded and then passed unanimously.
