SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15, 2025 PRESENT: Michael Anderson, Police Chief Jesse Barnes, Marcie Claus, Connell Collins, Fire Chief Jeff Hoeflich, Avron Kahn, Kimani Levy, Ibrahim Mansuri, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, Fred Moore, Paul Pitalis, Leslie Post- Weissinger, Vice Chairman Dennis Rizo, Jeffrey Schvimer and Chairman Melissa Villegas EXCUSED: Fire DC Op Nicholas Eschner, Deputy Chief Denise Franklin, Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Jagman, Paul Kruszynski, Deputy Chief John Oakley, Mark Penning, Trustee Alison Pure-Slovin, Director of Engineering Russ Rietveld, Howard Rosenburg, Director of Public Works Max Slankard and Trustee Edie Sue Sutker ABSENT: Scott Ford and Bryant Smith CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Chairperson Melissa Villegas called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Quorum was established. The minutes of the December 18th meeting were approved. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Fire Chief Hoeflich presented the December Report. It’s been 4 years in a row that a new record has been set for year-summary calls. Overall, EMS calls are up 25 percent and non-EMS related calls are up 20 percent. QA discussion followed. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Police Chief Barnes presented the December Report. Chief Barnes gave an update on the six new vehicles that are being outfitted and will be introduced to the fleet soon. Long time Commander Tim Gramins retired from the Police Department. Group A and B offenses are down by 7 and 8 percent respectively. QA discussion followed. ENGINEERING REPORT Samantha Maximilian, Senior Engineer discussed the monthly report. She presented on the Urban SDK software that both Engineering Division and the Police Department use. This is traffic data platform that has improved efficiencies for both departments when it comes to traffic related concerns, traffic mapping, and management.QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS The Boards & Commissions reception is set for Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 6:00 pm at the Holiday Inn. Commissioner Ibrahim Mansuri announced his resignation from the Commission, he is moving outside of Skokie and wished the commission a farewell. ADJOURNMENT At 8:52 p.m. a motion to adjourn was made by Kimani, Dennis seconded and all approved.
