SKOKIE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2025 PRESENT: Marcie Claus, Connell Collins, Vice Chairman Dennis Rizo, Carrie Bradean, Paul Pitalis (Emeritus), Paul Kruszynski, Police Chief Jesse Barnes, Hal Bernstein, Irwin Shiffman, Howard Rosenburg, John Domke, Fred Moore, Michael Anderson, Leslie Post-Weissinger, Trustee Kimani Levy, Director f Engineering Russ Rietveld and Fire Chief Nicholas Eschner, EXCUSED: Police DC Denise Franklin, Fire DC Stephen Jagman, Avron Kahn, Senior Engineer Samantha Maximilian, Police DC John Oakley, Arnie Oskin, Deputy Chief Adam Pease, Jeffrey Schvimer, Chairman Melissa Villegas and Director of Public Works Max Slankard ABSENT: Scott Ford, and Bryant Smith CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Vice Chairperson Rizo called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. Quorum was established. The minutes of the June 18, 2025 meeting were approved. Introductions were made for the new commissioners. PUBLIC COMMENT None FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Eschner presented the FD August Report, provided an overview of the FD and presented the ongoing FD Accreditation process. QA discussion followed. Feedback session for FD Accreditation process was held. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT Chief Barnes reviewed the PD August Report and provided a recruitment/retention update. QA discussion followed. ENGINEERING REPORT Russ provided the Engineering Report. QA discussion followed. UNFINISHED BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS It was decided to hold the October meeting on 10/22 instead of 10/15. The SB right turn arrow at Gross Point and Dempster was identified as needing assessment. East Prairie between Oakton and Main would benefit from increased Police enforcement related to speeding. East Prairie north of Dempster would benefit from a sidewalk on the east side. The area bounded by Main, Dempster, Crawford and McCormick would benefit from additional stop signs or, at least, cross traffic does not stop signs. ADJOURNMENT At 8:35 p.m. a motion was made by Paul K and seconded by Paul P and the meeting was adjourned.
