recent immigrants as a means of maintaining contact with
distant friends and family
2. Organize an educational session on technology available for
home security; i.e. types of camera and alarm products
available for home installation
3. Educate the public on existing computer recycling programs
offered by the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County,
School District 219, and any opportunities available through the
Village. Determine if a permanent drop-off location for
material could be hosted at a Village facility (i.e. Public Works
Department). Additionally, craft a newsletter article or
brochure regarding safety tips for recycling computers and cell
phones
4. Develop community outreach platform and invite suggestions
from Skokie residents and business owners. Evaluate creation
of a commission email address, STAT@skokie.org. Develop a
community technology survey and determine if the Village can
host via Survey Monkey. Evaluate if a public ‘suggestion box’
can be created within the Village website for convenient
community input
5. Organize an educational program on internet safety; i.e. safe
surfing for youth, identification and prevention of spam and
phishing emails, and identity theft prevention
