Skokie Telecommunications and Technology (STAT) Commission Meeting Minutes Date: Tuesday December 13, 2022 Time: 7 p.m. Location: Skokie Village Hall Conference Room A Attendees: Sam Corcione, Alex Franz, Fran Roehm, Scott Shamberg, and Baccet Levy. Virtual attendance by Chris Oh and Avi Nutkis. Absent: Ken Grossman, Ninos Youkhana, Jimmy Gonzalez, Syed Mahmood and James Paik. 1. Welcome & Introductions Sam called the meeting to order. 2. Approve minutes from November 15, 2022 Motion from Avi and seconded by Scott. All approved. 3. Membership Changes Sam announced that Scott is officially the new Vice-chair and welcomed new commissioner, Baccet Levy. 4. Discussion Programming  CUB Solar Energy Event Fran and Baccet volunteered to work on the program. Fran explained that she has been in contact with recurring presenter, Peter Gore of ISEA.  CUB Saver Event Sam and Fran volunteered to work on the program. Fran inquired about hosting the event in a different location in the Village and explained that she has attended events at Devonshire that were well attended. Alex explained that the lobby of Village Hall could accommodate the event, if needed. Sam explained that he and Fran will meet and provide more detail at the next meeting.  Cyber Security Program Avi volunteered to lead the program and requested assistance from someone who is good with PowerPoint. Scott suggested creating a STAT PowerPoint template for use in future events. Barring any scheduling conflicts with the Police Department’s training room, the event is scheduled for May 4, 2023.  Home Medical Technology Baccet volunteered to help Syed work on the program.  Technology for Skokie Residents & Businesses: o Tech for Families Communicating with International Families Scott and Sam volunteered to work on the program. Alex said that he would add Skokie’s Census demographic data to the Google Drive. o Technology Glossary Alex said that we would develop the subpage on the STAT webpage and requested that group members send their ideas to him and Sam. o Survey Residents & Businesses on Technology Questions Scott said that he will develop questions for residents and businesses. Alex will create the survey once the questions are complete.  Village Science Fair Award Program Jimmy and Sam will get a date for group once it is announced. Sam explained that an even number of volunteers will be needed to be voters.  Technological Excellence Award Sam explained that he will meet with Jimmy to gather more information on the idea.  Science & Technology Park Scott suggested that the event be in the summer. Alex will get the contact information of the park for the group.  STAT Website – How the Village is Using Tech Avi and Chris Oh will meet to discuss the webpage. Alex explained that he can assist in the page development and providing content. 5. Next Meeting January 31, 2023 6. Adjourn The motion to adjourn was made by Bacett and was seconded by Avi. All approved.

Welcome & Introductions 2. Approve minutes from November 15 ,2022 3. Membership Changes  Scott Schamberg Is appointed as Vice-Chair  Baccat Levy is appointed as a new commissioner 4. Discussion Programming  CUB Solar Energy Event _______/______ Sam said that he will reach out to CUB to begin discussions Alex explained that a representative from CUB reached out to the Village in hopes of partnering on their Grow Solar Chicagoland event which will provide education on the benefits of solar. Alex explained that this could be an opportunity for the commission to partner with the Sustainable Environmental Advisory Commission (SEAC) and will forward the email he received from CUB to Sam.  CUB Saver Event Sam/______ Fran has received no response from staff at CUB and will reach out to Brian. (While setting the agenda, Sam has reached out to CUB to attempt to schedule one)  Cyber Security Program Avi//_____ Avi explained that he has a presentation prepared and that it would also pair well with presentations on home health technology. Avi explained that May 4, 2023 is Password Day and that it would be a good opportunity to have the Cybersecurity Event on this day  Home Medical Technology Syed/______ Syed explained that he would like to assist in this program. Sam said he will share his notes on the topic. I have minimal notes and we will need to reinvent the wheel.  Technology for Skokie Residents & Businesses: o Tech for Families Communicating with International Families _____/_____ Scott explained that many people living in Skokie are likely communicating with family members living in different countries and that a program on technology that helps residents connect with family might be beneficial to residents. Alex will send Scott and Sam the age and demographic data of the Village. o Technology Glossary _______/______ Avi advised the group that many Skokie residents are likely not familiar with the names and acronyms associated with every day technology. Alex discussed the possibility of creating a glossary of technology and posting it to the STAT webpage. Avi added that the group could create mini-video presentations on the technology and post them to YouTube or link already created videos to the STAT page. o Survey Residents & Businesses on Technology Questions _______/______ Scott suggested that the group create separate surveys for residents and businesses that ask what technological questions that they would like answered or what technology programs they might want to see.  Village Science Fair Award Program Jimmy/______ Jimmy explained that he has contacted the high school and is waiting to hear if the event is virtual or in-person.  Technological Excellence Award _______/______ Jimmy suggested that the Commission conduct a Village-wide technological excellence award where applicants will be rated on their application of technological innovations in their everyday life, businesses, etc.  Science & Technology Park _______/______ Scott explained that there are probably many Skokie residents that do not know what occurs in the Science & Technology Park. He further explained that this is an opportunity for a program that showcases the park and the businesses within it.  STAT Website – How the Village is Using Tech _______/______ Avi suggested that the Commission showcase how the Village is using technology on the STAT webpage. 5.
