Skokie Telecommunications and Technology (STAT) Commission Meeting Minutes Date: October 29, 2024 Time: 7 p.m. Location: Skokie Village Hall Conference Room A Attendees: Scott Shamberg, Mayor Van Dusen, Alex Franz, Ken Grossman, Christopher Oh, Syed Mahmood, David Coyne, and Avi Nutkis. Absent: Richard Owen and Jimmy Gonzalez. 1. Welcome & Introductions Scott called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Motion by Ken Grossman. Seconded by Avi Nutkis. All approved. Scott introduced new Commissioner, David Coyne. 2. Approve minutes from Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Motion by Syed Mahmood. Seconded by Avi Nutkis. 3. Presentation by Mayor George Van Dusen Mayor Van Dusen thanked the Commission for their hard work and encouraged them to continue pursuing programs on AI along with the other tech programs currently being discussed by the commission. 4. Discussion Higher Priority Programming  Cyber Security Event – Tier 1 Avi explained that the event is scheduled for November 7 at 7 p.m. in the Police station training room. Alex explained that approximately 30 people are currently registered.  Home Medical Technology – Tier 1 Syed explained that he and Rich have not yet connected. Chris offered his assistance and will share information he has on home medical technology with Syed and Rich.  Smart Home Technology – Tier 1 Chris and Avi will connect in the coming months.  STAT Website – How the Village is Using Tech – Tier 1 Alex proposed ideas for future videos of which included snow plowing and technology that keeps residents safe.  Technology Glossary – Tier 1 Alex will share the glossary link with the group. Everyone will aim to add 5 items by the next meeting.  Program About Navigation Aggressive Sales Tactics – Tier 1 Alex explained that he reached out to CUB and they are available in 2025. The group agreed on a February event. The group discussed having a one pager on aggressive sales tactics from alternative energy suppliers.  Drone Photography – Tier 1 Ken will connect with Jimmy before the next meeting. 5. Discussion Lower Priority Programming  General AI Program David volunteered to take the lead on AI programs of which included general AI and AI for businesses.  A table at the Farmers’ Market that could rotate amongst commissioners and Village Staff Alex explained that the last Farmers’ Market is on November 3. The group agreed to begin to prepare for next years.  Automating Vehicle Stickers Alex will have an update at the next meeting.  Program on new technology in cars David volunteered to assist. 6. New Business The group agreed to move the November meeting to November 19. 7. Next Meeting The next meeting will be on November 19, 2024. 8. Adjourn Motion by Avi Nutkis. Seconded by Syed Mahmood.
