Skokie Technology Advancement and Transformation (STAT) Commission Meeting Minutes Date: October 28, 2025 Time: 7 p.m. Location: Skokie Village Hall Conference Room A Attendees: Scott Shamberg, Trustee Iverson, Alex Franz, David Coyne, Michael Calder, Michael Lamprecht, Avi Nutkis, Ujjval Patel, and Ken Grossman. Absent: Christopher Oh and Syed Mahmood. 1. Call to Order Scott called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Motion by Ujjval Patel. Seconded by Avi Nutkis. All approved. 2. Welcome and Introductions 3. Approve minutes from September 30, 2025. Motion by Ujjval Patel. Seconded by David Coyne. All approved. 4. Discussion Non-Programming Items  Commission Name Change Scott explained that the change of the Commissions name to the “Skokie Technology Advancement and Transformation” Commission appeared on the agenda of the Village Boards second October meeting. The change will be finalized at the November 3 meeting.  Technology Glossary Alex presented the technology glossary to the Commission. Avi suggested adding link to terms when applicable.  Village AI Policy Alex suggested that the group receive a presentation from the Village’s IT Director to learn about what the Village is already doing. Alex will coordinate a presentation in January or February 2026.  Annual End of Year Report Scott advised that he will soon begin creating the annual report. Alex has provided YTD information on Commission events/programs. 5. Discussion on Programming  Home Medical Technology The group will report at the November meeting.  Cybersecurity The event is Thursday, October 30 at the Skokie Police Station. Alex will drop off the name badges and other STAT promotional items.  Consumer as the Product/Social Media Literacy Alex will look at Saturday dates in January.  A Program about Navigating Aggressive Sales Tactics Alex will continue to format what he has received and will post to website.  Program on New Technology in Cars The group will draft a one-pager for release in early 2026.  Crypto Scams Program Ujjval and Michael C. will connect. Program will be on preventative measures and resources in the event someone is scammed. Alex will create an interest form that Avi can share at the Cybersecurity event. A resident from Go Green Skokie explained his interest in the program.  Smart Home Technology Chris and Avi will attempt one last outreach. If they are unsuccessful, the program will be dropped.  General AI Program The group is targeting an April date. Alex will work with the Library to make sure that it aligns with their events.  STAT Website – How the Village is Using Tech Alex continues to film/edit the video. The group suggested a future video be on the Village’s remote lawnmowers.  A table at the Farmers’ Market Alex sent Ujjval contact at Farmers’ Market.  Sustainable Technology Possible collaboration with SEAC. The group discussed topics like AI Data Centers, geothermal, and others.  Social Media Literacy for Parents Possible partnership with schools. Avi shared that he has a school contact. The group further discussed possibly partnering with the Human Relations Commission and/or Board of Health.  STAT Expo Postponed. 6. New Business The group discussed a program on vibe coding which uses prompts to build applications. Avi suggested that the next Cybersecurity event be in May 2026. 7. Public Comment A resident complimented the Commission and asked that Go Green Skokie be involved when feasible. 8. Next Meeting Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 7 p.m. 9. Adjourn Motion by Ujjval Patel.
