Village Seal Committee October 23, 2023 Meeting Minutes In attendance: Maria Monastero Bueno, Trustee Khem Khoeun, Jasmine Gurneau, Sheila Crumrine, Emily England, Dick Witry, Joe Hibdon, Patrick Deignan, Amanda Sabri, Alex Franz Absent: Karen Lise Sherman, Michaela Marchi, Thom DaMario Review of minutes: Minutes approved. Update on artist and community outreach efforts: Patrick reported that the Village had not received additional RFQ submissions since the last committee meeting, but that submissions would continue to be accepted through November 17. Jasmine and Emily shared their experiences at recent community engagement/outreach events related to Indigenous Peoples Day, and outlined potential opportunities in early November as part of Native American Heritage Month. Maria and Joe reported sharing the RFQ with art program contacts at area universities. Maria suggested sharing the new RFQ deadline with the Mitchell Museum to help reach more potential artists. Dick Witry suggested reaching out to a former Village employee who created stained glass designs featuring the current seal and other imagery at Village Hall to ensure that he was aware of the project. Dick also suggested determining options for compensating artists selected to develop seal design concepts after the RFQ period concludes.
