Discussion of proposesd cuts in Public Transportation as they relate to Seniors in the City of Springfield. This meeting was attended by PVTA Director, Sandra Sheehan, Director of Elder Affairs, Sandy Federico, Health & Human Services Commissioner, Helen Caulton-Harris and 4 members of the Senior Action Commission. Councilor Lederman stated that he filed a Resolution urging the State Legislature to provide more funding for the PVTA, this will go before the full City Council on April 9th. Sheehan stated that the service changes affecting seniors and ADA are the same changes that will effect everyone. PVTA will not know the exact funding from the State until mid July and the budget needs to be balanced before that. There will be reduced service hours after 6pm week days and Saturday hours will be reduced as well as a fare increase. PVTA is trying to be creative as possible in order to provide the best service to the community. The fare increase will remain intact even if the funding is restored but services will increase should more State funding be made available. Health and Human Services Page 1 Printed 4/3/2018
