Commission present: Brandy Harris, Emily Denniston, Bria Coale, Dr. Elizabeth Andrews, Dr.
Kaleen Long, Dr. Tom Masterson, Dr. Christy Davis
Advisory Council present: Kimberly Shinn Brown, Dr. Doug McNeal, Dr. Kristin Thompson, Callie
Carroll, Rinda Davis, Dr. Jennifer Baker, Jaimie Trussell, Jessie Daugherty
Meeting was started at 8:05. Dr. Masterson welcomed the group to the Mercy Healthcare Academy
for 50 eighth graders. Minutes were approved by the Commission with Dr. Kaleen Long making the
motion to approve as written and Brandy Harris offering a second to that motion.
Brigitte made an announcement regarding Child advocacy day April 2 in Jefferson City. The City has
started the search for a new City Manager. April 8 will bring an election with a new mayor and 4 City
council races. April 8 will be our next meeting and will be back at the Chamber. Ken McClure has
been invited to attend. Also all 4 school board candidates have been invited to attend.
Dr. Christy Davis will give us an update on Parents as Teachers.
Dr. Jason Steingraber-Director of Choice schools and Magnet Schools for Springfield Public School
gave us an overview of the various choice programs.
