Discussion
Objective: Identifying gaps in programming/activities serving at-risk youth between the
ages of 12-18, as well as any gaps in interactions between service providers.
Questions for Discussion:
1. What are you doing now to address intervention and prevention (can reference
younger ages)?
2. What are they doing well? And, who are you serving best?
3. What are the challenges and opportunities of this work?
4. What is the disconnect in youth programs?
5. What issues are outside of your span of control?
6. What is the demographics of youths served (if available)?
7. What programs are available to youth on a drop-in basis versus programs that
requires pre-registration?
8. For City Departments:
- Which program(s)/organizations are you aware of that are reaching young people that
aren’t coming to libraries, rec centers, etc.?
- What program(s) exist that go to young people rather than have them come to us?
- What is the total budget for these programs and activities and how much is City $ and
how much outside $?
- [FOR Parks & Rec] CM Noecker would like an update on the ‘Fee-based Pilot Project”
that was adopted in the 2017 Budget.
