Library Semi-Annual Report Library Director, Susie Hansen presented highlights from the Semi-Annual Library Report for the months of July - December of 2025. The report included program attendance, foot traffic, circulation data and highlights from the summer reading program which concluded with 36 total programs and an end- of-summer party. The report covered the successful Dino Day program collaboration with Parks and Rec, which had 92 participants across two sessions. Hansen also discussed the teen internship program where Alexia Martinez created a successful Halloween-themed family event. 6.2. Upcoming Events & Library Updates Susie Hansen provided updates on library programs and services. She highlighted ongoing book clubs available on the Fable app and mentioned the DIY STEM program in collaboration with Umatilla County 4-H, which occur every Thursday at 4:00 pm in the month of April. New services were introduced, including launch pads with educational games and bike locks available without a library card. Hansen discussed the use of a company called Syncretic Press to rent bilingual StoryWalk books. The discussion also included information about the "One Book, One Coast" program, which involves 130 libraries across California, Washington, and Oregon reading the same book monthly, culminating in a live author talk with George Takei on May 31st at the Los Angeles Public Library, which will be available via Zoom. Patrons were invited to participate in a watch party at the Umatilla Public Library on May 31st starting at 1:45 pm. The conversation ended with a brief explanation of how StoryWalk works. Hansen explained that the StoryWalk starts at Hash Park and ends at Kiwanis Park with 20 displays along a walking path. Participants are encouraged to walk and read along to the book of the season and may enter to win a copy of the book at the end of the walk. . 7. Motion Carried.  Ayes: Enkey, Simmons, Gutierrez, Gonzalez  Nays: None Page 5 of 12 Umatilla Public Library Annual Library Service Plan – FY 2026-27 Library Vision for the Future: This year, the Umatilla Public Library will continue to focus on Spanish Outreach and Community Outreach in general. We hope to reach more people in our community, especially those in the McNary and South Hill areas of Umatilla. Goal #1: Continue Spanish Outreach Efforts Community Needs: ● Greater access to resources and services in Spanish ● More culturally relevant programs and events Priorities: ● Foster meaningful relationships with the Spanish speakers in our community ● Build capacity to deliver consistent and responsive services in Spanish Year 1 Activities: ● Hire a bilingual Library Aide to support bilingual programming, events, and services. o Anticipated hire in September 2026. ● Develop and deliver at least two new recurring programs and events tailored to Spanish patrons ● Continue to nurture the partnerships between Head Start, Migrant Education Program, and Conexión de Madre (Mother’s Support Group) through collaborative programming and resource sharing Year 2 Activities: ● Stay up to date with new book releases in Spanish ● Assess existing Spanish-language offerings and adjust based on community feedback Goal #2: Community Outreach Goal: Increase equitable access to library services through consistent, community-based outreach Year 1 Activities: ● Continue to provide pop-up services to Plymouth, and organizations like Lifeways ● Create “Storytime in the Park”, rotating between different neighborhoods ● Collaborate with Head Start to provide Storytimes and other activities Page 6 of 12 Year 2 Activities: ● Develop a regular outreach schedule/route for consistent service delivery ● Strengthen ongoing partnerships to co-host recurring programs Page 7 of 12 Page 8 of 12 Page 9 of 12 Page 10 of 12 Page 11 of 12 Page 12 of 12
