Recreation Commission Agenda 4/22/25
Attendance: Nathan Cook, John Dorhauer, Daryl Thompson, Katie Wagner, Sue Earl
1. Call to order at 7:09pm
2. Public Comments on Agenda Items
- Cheryl Wagner curious why Addison isn’t on neighboring network fees. Who becomes
non residents if this goes into place. She thinks this is a great idea but can Villa Park
residents use their facilities?
- Have we approached the garden village about utilizing Lions. The reason we don’t have
fences is because those parks are used for multi purpose space and could cut into some
of that.
- Rocco Caifano VPYB trying to use VYPB funds to help with smaller projects. Please
check with proper channels to ensure fence goes up
3. Public Comments on Non-Agenda Items
4. Amendments to the Agenda
5. Approval of Minutes
- Motion by John, second by Nate, approved by all
a. Meeting Minutes 3/25/26
6. New Business
a. Open Gym During the Summer
- June calendar shows that there’s no classroom for storage and camp run 9am-4pm.
When at the pool the campers leave their stuff in the gym. When weather is bad
campers stay inside the gym (weekly totals between 95-100 kids per week)
- Campers go on field trips on Wednesdays
- Can campers have a designated spot on bus
b. Sponsorships
- Can we check in on how to find sponsors? Looking for a $400 donation to help with this.
c. Neighboring Network Fees
- Look into this for next pool season
- Daryl talks about own situation with a family living in unincorporated areas.
- Possibility of raising the price of non-resident fees
- Look into other areas that offer.
- Include Addison
- Lets dive into LaGrange Park district Neighborhood rates
D. Recommendation for VPYB field installations at Lions Field
- VPYB serves the community and has helped with fields.
- Reach out with Director Howe and Brian Roche.
- Reach out to the Garden Village Commission and the village manager.
- Updates on Franklin and lights. Company sports fields both Jackson fields resurfaced by
middle of May. Look for approval for a fence at Franklin. Funds have started
d. Event Promotions
i. Mom & Son Night on Friday, May 1 at the VPRC.
ii. Bike Safety Rodeo on Sunday, May 3 at Ardmore and the Prairie
Path from 1-3pm. Any child under 18 who participates in the safety
course and/or registers their bicycle with the Villa Park Police will

receive raffle tickets to win bicycle light, reflector, or bike helmet.
iii. Villa Park's Got Talent at Lufkin Park on Saturday, May 16. This
Free event is looking for performers and sponsorships. Performers
must register for a time slot. We will take day-of performers as time
allows. Mike's Drum Shop donated a full drum kit for any band that
performs. We are looking for sponsors to help cover the cost of our
sound engineer.
7. Unfinished Business
a. Recommendation for Lufkin Park Concert Series
- No official approval yet, but the event is on the calendar. Food trucks have reached out.
Both food trucks have minimums that need to be met ($250, $300). Find out an event
budget.
b. Sports Swap
- In contact with Molly from Go-Green Villa Park and was interested in collaborating with
us August 8th. Potentially use August 7th to hold donations. Suggests putting up
signage outlining “prices” for items.
