June 8, 2026
The Wendell Town Board of Commissioners held their Regular Session on Monday, June 8,
2026, in the Town Board Room, Wendell Town Hall, 409 Landin View Drive.
Present: Mayor Virginia Gray, Mayor Pro Tempore Joe DeLoach, Commissioner Kate Benson,
Commissioner Deans Eatman, Commissioner Braxton Honeycutt, and Commissioner Dustin

CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Gray called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Lake Myra Elementary School Student, Kenya Cervantes-
Nunez.
The Invocation was provided by Ben Lambeth, from Wendell Christian Church.
1. ADJUSTMENT AND APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA

Mover: Commissioner Braxton Honeycutt made a motion to approve as amended with
moving item 3.e to 6.d.

Mover: Mayor Pro Tempore Joe DeLoach made a motion to approve the Downtown
Improvement Grant (DIG) for 37 N Main Street for Mac's Restaurant Requested by
Kathy and Peter in the not to exceed amount $50,000.

Town of Wendell Budget, Budget Ordinances, Fee Schedule, and Pay Plan; This
motion is to include all 6 actions listed:
1. Motion to adopt the Fiscal Year 2027 Town of Wendell Budget Document
2. Motion to approve the Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Ordinance
3. Motion to approve the General Fund Capital Project Ordinance
4. Motion to approve the Utility Capital Project Ordinance
5. Motion to approve the Fiscal Year 2027 Fee Schedule

Update on Board Committees by Town Board Members:
Central Pines Regional Council - Mayor Pro Tempore Joe DeLoach
8. COMMISSIONERS' REPORTS / COMMENTS
Mayor Pro Tempore DeLoach congratulated Corinth Holder's High School for their softball and
baseball teams making it the 8A State Championship. He also stated good Luck to the Carolina
Hurricanes, and reminded everyone that June 17 is the First Responder's breakfast at
Universal Chevrolet.
Commissioner Benson appreciate all those who applied to be on a Citizen Advisory Board.
She also thanked staff for the budget, as well as recognizing the LGBT+ community.
Commissioner Ingalls stated he was happy to see a lot of newcomers o the area who applied
for the Citizen Advisory Boards.
9. MAYOR'S REPORTS / COMMENTS
Mayor Gray reminded everyone that Meet on Main would June 19, from 6p.m.-9p.m. and that
it will be the last one until September. She also reminded everyone of the fun things happened
July 2nd for our America 250 celebration. She lastly noted that if you stopped by the Wendell
Museum, you could get a new t-shirt. She is please by the budget and thanked staff for no tax
increases.

Mover: Mayor Pro Tempore Joe DeLoach made a motion to enter into closed session
pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(5).

Pond Road, located at the NE corner of martin Pond Road and Eagle road Road
with a PIN of 1774536334 and authorize Town Manager and Town Attorney to
handle.
