Minutes - Wheaton Bicycle Advisory Committee Subcommittee of the Environmental Improvement Commission May 20, 2015, 7:00 pm In attendance: Nancy Allured, Bruce Berenschot, Michelle Dunlap, Jim Knasel, Rita Nathanson, Carrie Provost, Karen Saad, Laurel Salvador Approval of Minutes: Rita moved that the minutes be approved. Karen seconded. Wheaton Bike Plan: Karen identified President Street as currently being repaved and suggested we check with the City about doing the shared lane plan. Nancy will contact the city. National Bike/Walk to School Day – May 6: Jim reported that there were six Wheaton schools participating this year in the Spring Bike to School day (Franklin, Edison, Whittier, Madison, Lincoln, and Emerson) as well as two in Warrenville (Johnson and Bower). National Bike/Walk to School Day – October 7: Jim is working with Wheaton Warrenville District 200 and the Warrenville Bike Commission to participate in the Fall Bike/Walk to School Day. Bike Wheaton Banners: The banners are installed in the downtown area. Taste of Wheaton Bike Valet – June 6: The committee members signed up for one of the three time slots to cover from 6:30 am – 7:30 pm. Members of the Environmental Improvement Commission (EIC) were also recruited to help fill the time. Bike Wheaton Festival – Aug 8: Paula Barrington of the DWA sent an email with a design for the new Festival. Small changes were discussed and to be sent back to her. Carrie reported that the DuPage Art League will create a children’s bike art activity in Memorial Park. Budget: The committee discussed the need to have a set budget per year to help with events. Nancy will take this request to the EIC for discussion. New Committee members: The committee members will continue to look for additional members. ----- Next Bike Committee Meetings: June 24, 2015 and July 15. Meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm
