Minutes ­ Wheaton Bicycle Advisory Committee Subcommittee of the Environmental Improvement Commission August 17, 2016, 7:00pm In Attendance: Nancy Allured, Dan Dlhy, Michelle Dunlap, Therese Kushman, Carrie Provost, Rita Nathanson, Bill Nieman, Karen Saad, Laurel Salvador, Eric Weseman (resident), Marc Hendersen (resident), Paula Barrington (DWA) Approval of minutes: Rita moved to approve the minutes and Dan seconded. The minutes are approved. Public Comment: None. Minutes: Paula Barrington from Downtown Wheaton Association came to debrief committee on Bike Festival. ● Ideas generated: Improve adult focus, need bike store representation, do a “Bike Night” like the Car Nights, need to consider other areas of cycling such as vintage bikes and commuters. ● Working Bikes received 11 bikes from the festival; normally receive ~200/year; took bikes from Wheaton Bike Pound. ● DWA has feather signs for our other events if needed. Safety concerns on Wheaton Park District property ● Use the Safety Concern form on website. The concerns are handled. Dan Thomas no longer working for DuPage County anymore. What will happen to the position? Next steps for Bike Plan? ● Need to have conversation with council members. ● Members will sign up to attend either coffee with council or council meetings. We need to be seen and heard. ● What is the status of the Bike Signage plan? ● Can we get our maps printed? Maybe DWA businesses can help fund?
