Minutes - Wheaton Bicycle Advisory Committee Subcommittee of the Environmental Improvement Commission February 15th, 2017, 7:00pm In Attendance: ​Dan Dlhy, Michelle Dunlap, Therese Kushman, Rita Nathanson, Karen Saad, Nancy Allured, Carrie Prevost, Jim Knasel Approval of minutes: ​Approved as amended by Nancy. Therese seconded. Chair report ​Dan Dlhy will be committee chair as of 2/15/2017 Public Comment:​ None Minutes: ● Ongoing Business : ● Bike to School: ​May 10.Therese will follow up by end of February with letters, flyers, and PDF for stickers to Michelle Trisik, PTA President who can forward to each school. WBAC will be point person for each school for recording #’s of students participating, link schools to website to register their event and get ideas. ● Bike to Work:​ May 19.National bike to Work Day. Since this is day after History ride, committee will postpone our involvement until future ● Coffee With Council​ February comments Discussed Grant and project going out for bid in April for signage. Jim and Bill will come up with plan to follow up with council. Jim will put something together and email Bill. Goal: direction from council to ensure city engineer takes bike plan into consideration in ongoing projects. What does city need in order to accomplish the project with bike Plan included. Some committee members will request meeting with Dzugan to ask a few pertinent talking points about moving project/bike plan forward and request his help. Brighton Drive is part of a 5 year road, water, sewer rehabilitation. Brighton Drive is 2 years out. March & April March Coffee With Council shelved. Karen will reach out to city manager to meet in March.. ● Wheaton Historic Ride​ Carrie organized historic sites on ride route. Nancy (from the Wheaton Historical Society) will be our docent on the ride. Michelle acquired waiver from city. Riders under age 18 must be accompanied by adult or guardian. Michelle will attend Preservation Society meeting on 2/21. Committee decided the Wheaton Cemetery site will be removed due to being along dangerous road. Route is on roads and Prairie Path. Map of route, mileage, and stops, will be passed out to participants. PR will be one page flyer posted in downtown businesses, information in local newspaper, WBEZ. Waiver will be available to download, sign and bring with to event. ● Warrenville/Wheaton BPAC Conversation:​ Therese and Dan attended. Kate Perkins president of Warrenville/Winfield committee. Warrenville received STP grant to build trailhead facilities for riders and walkers near library, police station and city hall. ● Group Rides 2017: ​ Carrie organized 11 group rides which will be open to public with same waiver. ● Bike Plan Map:​ Nancy will ask city to print 200 - 500 11”X 17” of more recent version, single sided maps with addition of bike committee email included. ● Bike Festival 2017:​ Nancy, Rita, Bill, Dan, Therese will meet Tuesday, March 21 at 5:30 pm in room at Wheaton library.
