Downtown Wheaton Association office. Notes from the previous sub-committee meeting are
on the Google Drive along with a vendor check-list.
Bike/Walk to School – Spring Event – May 8th. Recap of the event, no numbers received from
the schools on the number of students that participated. Discussion ensued with how to try and
get better data from the schools but that might not be an easy task without Commission
members being present any every school.
Group Rides – High School Ride Recap – Six students participated in the group ride along with
six Commission members. The only drawback was that some of the students did not wear
/bring bicycle helmets with them. After the ride, Kimmer’s provided discounts on ice cream for
the riders.
Bike Valet / Taste of Wheaton – Discussed the final plans for the event, such as the schedule for
which Commission members will be covering which shifts, signage that will be provided by the
Park District and what we need to do when setting up in the park. The post for the feather / leaf
sign will be purchased and picked up before the event so that we can have it displayed.
History Ride – 2019 – Brief discussion on this event since it’s further in the future but wanted to
discuss the legalities of using a waiver if we use the Event Brite online service to encourage
residents to sign up. Speak with the Assistant City Manager (John Duguay) about this issue.
