Wednesday December 18th, 2019 7pm, Gammon Room I. Call to Order Alyse Kondrat called the meeting to order at 7:08pm Attendees: Michelle Dunlap, Nancy Allured, Carrie Provost, Bill Nieman, Rita Nathanson Janet Gellert, Elizabeth Bishop, Alyse Kondrat, Laurel Salvador Approval of Minutes: Nancy Allured moved to approve October minutes and Michelle Dunlap seconded. Public Comment: None II. Chair Report None III. Ongoing Business: Vote: Printing of the Bicycle Maps – All in favor – Michelle, Bill, Nancy, Carrie, Rita, Janet, Laurel, Alyse; Nay = none. Alpha Graphics has an account with city. Action Item: Dan please tell Alyse how much money we have let to spend on map printing and Action Item: Alyse will work with Alpha Graphics to get printed. WBAC Policies & Ordinances (Laurel Salvador) – We are not expanding our commission to include plans and project for pedestrians; we will only focus on biking. The Council likes the idea of submitting requests and recommendations to the Council in a standard template sent to John Duguay. WBAC Programs (Alyse Kondrat) – Action Item: Alyse to come up with a list of potential places to drop off Bike Maps. WBAC Network (Commission) - did not discuss Bicycle Festival / 4th of July Event Discussion – we need to know what was approved for the 2020 budget in order to discuss the feasibility of sponsoring the bike festival without the financial support of the Downtown Wheaton Association. Action Item: Rita will talk to the Chamber of Commerce to see if they have ideas for fundraising and/or sponsorship for the Bike Festival. If we worked with the Park District, could we host it Central Park. We need to talk to the Park District in January to get on the schedule. We talked about skipping a year. Bill thought we would lose momentum. Action Item: Alyse will check with BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMISSIONMEETING MINUTES Month Date, Year Paula about notes for Bike Festival. Action Item: Dan to communicate to the commission what budget dollars were approved for 2020. Wayfinding Sign Discussion – Elizabeth motioned and Nancy approved and everyone voted unanimously to approve the changes/corrections to the Bike Signs that Michelle compiled. Action Item: Michelle to send the email and corrections to John Duguay. Brighton: Road work will be completed on Brighton and wanted from Bike Commission opinion on whether to use Brighton for biking use. Yes, we should along with Seven Gables Park and adjunct roads West. Action Item: Bill to forward email from John Duguay about Brighton white strip. Group Rides: Carrie asked for ideas for next year. New rides were suggested for 2020 Two Brothers, Fermi Lab,Villa Park; we can preview rides in the spring. Consider sponsoring the solar ride with Jeff of the Clean Wheaton Group. i. History Ride: Nancy Flannery wants to come to our January Meeting to discuss possible ideas for the 2020 History Ride: Prohibition, Golf, Mid-Century Modern; Glennette Tilly Turner suggested we run her video at the library display in July 2020. We may need to have Nancy at the Feb meeting depending on January attendance. IV. Other Topics / New Business: Signage along the prairie path in Villa Park – look at what Villa Park is doing – DWA may be interested in looking at their signage to see how advertisements for businesses may drive customers into stores; perhaps we can do a group ride in the spring to see these signs. Dupage Prairie Path Meeting – Michelle talked to Sidney Kenyon about the path to Cantigny, not happening soon but still in the plan. State route - Path from County Farm to Winfield is planned in about two years. V. Upcoming Meetings Wednesday January 15th, 2020 Wednesday February 19th, 2020 VI.
