Call to Order * Called to order by Alyse at 7:01 pm II. Agenda Item-Approval of April minutes Motioned: LAUREL motioned Seconded: MICHELLE; approved unanimously by voice vote III. Public Comments - None IV. Agenda item-Prairie Path Cleanup ● Bob and Michelle participated and filled two full bags and spent at least 2 hours. Great job representing the WBAC! V. Agenda item-Board and Commissions document update ● NO update VI. Agenda item-Annual Report, items needed ● Laurel will write up blurb on Rodeo ● Alyse will determine when we need to submit VII. Agenda Item-Bike Rodeo ● 19 students participated ● Laurel to write our debrief we held the day of the event and will post on the Drive. VIII. Agenda Item-Bike Valet ● Margie from Park District has our list of supplies ● Location = Grass behind Longfellow outside of the fenced area ● We requested temporary bike racks from city ● We asked for advertising signs on Prairie Path and local parks – Park District will do if they are able ● Park District will create directional signs for day of event IX. Agenda Item - French Market ● Not in FM itself, but we may do some Saturdays in July or August at our own table on the PP X. Agenda Item-Safe Schools Route/3M Safe Schools  BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES April 20, 2022 ● Two schools as pilot projects to query parents how kids used bikes to get to school ● We created a proposed safe bike route ● Bill took info to John G and Engineering Dept – they are busy until Street Scapes is done ● Can we get grant money to do something around these two schools ● Program every two years dispenses money for safe routes ● Bill will pick up with new person in city who writes grants – and see if we can get this going. Routes are all through unincorporated which city has no jurisdiction – Monroe is North school – unincorporated Lincoln Marsh area. ● Other school is Whittier ● 3M safe schools – stars rating for schools – how much attention community should put for directing safe bike resources; national center for safe routes to school – from grant for Univ NC – collected surveys across country and univ wrote papers. ● Subset is the walk bike and roll to school, people that support walk or bike to school ● Might work with the police and see how kids are actually biking to schools ● Talk with kids and ask how they ride to school XI.
