Board of Fire & Police Commissioners Regular Meeting Minutes September 20, 2017 Call to Order and Roll Call At 5:35 p.m., the regular meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners was called to order by Chair Cannova. The meeting was held in the Gamon Room at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St., Wheaton, Illinois. Upon roll call, the following were present: Chair Cannova, Commissioner Dulaney, Commissioner Illia and Commissioner Wanzenberg. Also present was Assistant City Manager Duguay, Fire Chief Schultz, Police Chief Volpe and Deputy Police Chief Murphy. Commissioner Schreiber was absent. Public Comment None Approval of Minutes Commissioner Dulaney moved and Commissioner Illia seconded to approve the minutes of the September 13, 2017 regular meeting. The motion carried unanimously. New Business Chief Schultz presented to the Board regarding the need for a new Eligibility List, as the current list is expiring this month. City staff will work with the fire department to schedule the test and present the timeline to the Board at a future meeting. End of Probation – Officer Kaufman Commissioner Illia moved and Commissioner Wanzenberg seconded to accept the written recommendation of Police Chief Volpe and appoint Officer Kaufman to full-time non-probationary status. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Dulaney Nays: None Absent: Commissioner Schrieber Motion Carried Unanimously Closed Session – Personnel Review [5ILCS 120/2(c)(1)] At 5:54 p.m., Commissioner Wazenberg moved and Commissioner Dulaney seconded to adjourn to Closed Session to obtain a personnel update on firefighter candidates. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Dulaney Commissioner Illia Nays: None Absent: Commissioner Schreiber Motion Carried Unanimously The Board returned to open session 6:16 p.m. Adjournment Commissioner Dulaney moved and Commissioner Illia seconded to adjourn the regular meeting at 6:20 p.m. The motion carried unanimously.
