Board of Fire & Police Commissioners Regular Meeting Minutes May 9th, 2018 Call to Order and Roll Call At 6:31 p.m., the regular meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners was called to order by Chair Cannova. The meeting was held in the Gamon Room at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St., Wheaton, Illinois. Upon roll call, the following were present: Chair Cannova, Commissioner Dulaney, Commissioner Illia and Commissioner Wanzenberg. Commissioner Schreiber was absent. Also present were Fire Chief Schultz, Board Attorney John Kelly and Director of HR Schulz. Public Comment None Approval of Minutes Commissioner Dulaney moved and Commissioner Illia seconded to approve the minutes of the March 6th, 2018 regular meeting. The motion carried unanimously. Commissioner Illia moved and Commissioner Dulaney seconded to approve the minutes of the March 6th, 2018 closed meeting. The motion carried unanimously. New Business Commissioner Wanzenberg moved and Commissioner Illia seconded to end the probation for Firefighter Brian Fennell. Roll Call Vote: Ayes: Commissioner Illia Commissioner Wanzenberg Chair Cannova Commissioner Dulaney Nays: None Absent: Commissioner Schrieber Motion Carried Unanimously The Board reviewed and selected interview questions for the upcoming Fire Lieutenant Promotional interviews. Miscellaneous Chair Cannova informed the Board that Commissioner Schreiber has submitted his notice of resignation to the Board. The Board has been lucky to have Commissioner Schreiber and wishes him well on future endeavors. Board Attorney, John Kelly, introduced himself to the Board. A discussion was had regarding the timing of the psychological exam as part of the Police hiring process. Kelly informed the Board that the psych exam may need to be given post conditional offer of employment based on finding from the ADA. Further discussion and a decision will be made at a future meeting. Adjournment Commissioner Wanzenberg moved and Commissioner Dulaney seconded to adjourn the regular meeting at 8:06 p.m. The motion carried unanimously.
