CITY OF WHEATON COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION Minutes - Monday, May 16, 2016 I. Call to Order: by Chairman Ronnie Gillis at 7:45 p.m. II. Roll Call: Commission Members Present: Commission Members Absent: Ronnie Gilles Dan Loftus Bill Gilbertson Renee Webb Gavin Engle Tony Lyons Bobby McNeily Erik Miller Vickie Miller III. Citizens to be heard: None IV. Approval of the minutes: from April 20, 2016. Tony moved, Vickie seconded and the motion for approval carried. V. Continuing Business: A. Military Projects -- Bill Gilbertson. Bill indicated that he had not received any information as to when the troops would be returning from Kuwait but was still considering a welcome home project for them when we have a date. B. Cultural Diversity – Dan Loftus.. Bobby said that he and Dan would be meeting with Betsy Adamowski soon to firm up the final planning for the Wheaton World Tour on August 20. C. Make a Difference Day – Bill Gilbertson. No report D. Serve Illinois/Cities of Service – Renee Webb. No report (not present). E. Good Citizens – Vickie Miller. Following a reception in the Gamon Room for the Good Citizen Award winners Bobby McNeily and the CRC Commissioners presented the awards to the recipients in front of Mayor Gresk and the City Council. The award winners were as follows: High School Students, Kathleen Kleve, Katherine Howard, Clara Baumgarten and Sophia Jenz. Adults, Sue Haines, Stephanie Sweeney, Pamela Paulsen, Russ Boone and Michelle Bejla. Group, The Dream Foundation: Ann Bond, Tracie Joyce, Cara Wills and Desiray Young. F. Treasurer’s Report — No report G. Media Coordinator – Bobby McNeily. Bobby indicated he had already scheduled a Chat with the Mayor to highlight the Cultural Diversity Event on August 20. He was also looking to be featured in the City of Wheaton website newsletter and to place posters in the downtown stores. VI. New Business: After reviewing the proposed slate for Officers and Committee Leaders a vote was taken to approve the slate as it was stated (see Exhibit A attached). Bobby so moved and Gaven seconded and the motion passed. VII. Commissioners Comments: None VIII.
