CITY OF WHEATON COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION Minutes - Wednesday, September 7, 2016 I. Call to Order: by Co-Chairs Vickie Miller and Tony Lyons at 7:05 p.m II. Roll Call: Commission Members Present Commission Members Absent Ronnie Gillis Gavin Engel Tony Lyons Bill Gilbertson Vickie Miller Dan Loftus Erik Miller Bobby McNeily Renee Webb III. Citizens to be heard: Gail Forrest visited to meet the Commissioners and learn about the workings of the Commission. She recently relocated back to Illinois from Alaska and is looking to be involved in her new community. Vickie and Tony explained our many events and activities throughout the year as well as our liaison for the City’s Adopted Troop and its connection to Cantigny’s Big Red 1. IV. Approval of the minutes: from August 3, 2016. Erik Miller moved, Renee Webb seconded and the motion for approval carried. V. Continuing Business: A. Military Projects -- Bill Gilbertson. No report B. Cultural Diversity – Dan Loftus; Bobby McNeily — Bobby reported the event was cancelled due to rain but that they will be meeting with Betsy Adamowski soon to discuss rescheduling the event for spring or hold off until the same time next year. We will run the same theme since we have everything already pre- pared. The plan for next year will be to have a rain date prearranged. C. Make a Difference Day – Renee Webb; Ronnie Gilles .— Renee and Ronnie reported on Make a Differ- ence Day “Uniforms that Serve Us” Program which will be an ice cream social to meet the police and fire officers and their families. We have solicited pole banner sponsorship again. We have invited several Wheaton ice cream vendors to participate and we will have a DJ doing music. There will be Make a Dif- ference Day Medallions given to the officers. We will propose several activities to the PTA Council which the children can perform in partnership with the police and fire officers in addition to the Stuff a Truck pro- gram. D. Serve Illinois/Cities of Service – Tony Lyons. — No report E. Good Citizens – Vickie Miller. — No report. F. Treasurer’s Report—Erik Miller — Erik reported that the total for the Good Citizens expenses were $450. The preliminary budget for Make a Difference Day is about $1,700. G. Media Coordinator – Bobby McNeily.— Chat with Mayor will air in October. VI. New Business: None VII. Commissioners Comments: None VIII. Adjournment: Bobby moved, Erik seconded, a motion to adjourn at 8:15 p.m. Motion passed.
