CITY OF WHEATON COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION Meeting Minutes – Wednesday, March 7, 2018 I. Call to Order: by Gail Forrest at 7:00pm II. Roll Call: Commission Members Present Commission Members Absent Gail Forrest Ronnie Gillis Vickie Miller Leslie Day Erik Miller Colleen Attwell Shayne Moore Tony Asta Erica Nelson III. Citizens to be heard: We were joined by Julie Kulovits who is interested in joining the Commission. The Commission recommended moving her forward for approval by the City Council. ACTION – Gail to submit Julie’s application to city. IV. Approval of minutes: Erica Nelson moved to approve the February 2018 minutes and Tony Asta seconded the motion. The motion for approval carried. V. Continuing Business: A. Finance (Erik Miller) – no updates a. ACTION – Erik to draft breakdown of budget resources for each event/area B. Communications (Shayne Moore) a. ACTION – Shayne to draft communications plan/timeline b. ACTION – ALL – Keep Shayne in loop on any and all pertinent information for communications planning and updates c. ACTION – Shayne – to print flyers for Good Citizens nominations to distribute at local Starbucks, schools, etc. d. ACTION - Tony to send printer contact to Shayne C. Wheaton World Tour (Tony Asta/Erica Nelson) – Brainstorming session to be held Wednesday, March 14th at 7:30pm in Gamon Room. D. Good Citizens Awards (Vickie Miller) – nomination applications are out, completed applications will come back to City Clerk. Colleen offered to be Co-Chair for this event. a. ACTION – ALL – Send out Good Citizens nomination application to your contacts b. ACTION – Vickie/Colleen to identify catering options E. Make a Difference Day – No specific updates at this time. Idea for this year is to serve as catalyst and recognition vehicle for community involvement rather than do a specific event ourselves. Need commission lead for this activity.  F. Military Projects – Gail is working to find a military representative to join the Commission and coordinate this project. a. ACTION – Tony to investigate military leads through church G. Business Sponsorship a. ACTION – Leslie to give names of Make a Difference Day sponsors to Shayne for recognition. b. ACTION – Leslie to follow-up on street banners VI. New Business: Reminder to all commissioners to try to attend at least one Coffee with the City Council. VII. Commissioner Comments: None VIII. Adjournment: Colleen Attwell moved and Vickie Miller seconded a motion to adjourn at 8:00 pm. The motion passed.
