COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION
MINUTES – WEDNESDAY, October 3, 2018
I. Call to Order by Erica Nelson Forrest at 7:03 p.m.

III. Citizens to be heard:
Kay Frederick – New to the Commission. Gail to submit Kay’s name to the city for
approval.
IV. Approval of Minutes: Tony moved to approve the August minutes and Vickie
seconded. The motion passed.
V. Continuing Business:
A. Finance: Need to talk with mayor about budget. Erick and Tony need to talk
about numbers. Some commission members need to turn in receipts to be
reimbursed. Erik and Gail need to talk to City about next year’s budget.
B. Communication: Shayne and Alex need to get together, put down on paper the
things that happened during the Festival so they can be replicated. Larniecia and
Shayne will connect about communication for Make a Difference Day.
C. Festival of Cultures: All committee minutes were sent out. All minutes have
been approved. Tony moved, Erica second. Need to come up with a date for next
year, discuss which groups will be asked back. Reviewed thought from immediately

after the festival. We will look at Sept. 15, 2019 as a future date to keep things
consistent. Sending out thank you notes, Google Forms for feedback.
D. Good Citizens: Need to confirm this is still the third Monday in May.
E. Make A Difference Day: At Oct. 1 Council Meeting a Proclamation was
submitted for Make a Difference Day. Food for Fines (Library), Food for Film (Studio
Movie Grill) and collection of food at schools will be directed toward People’s
Resource Center. On Oct. 27, a room at City Hall is reserved from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
(including set up and take down). From 12-3 p.m. we will be here, inviting citizens to
come and share their stories of how they made a difference that day or month. Goal
is to help expand friends of the commission, help us build us volunteers. Want to
have a photo and biography of each person so the community knows who we are.
On Oct. 17, 5-8:45 p.m., commissioners welcome to go to PRC to sort food and help
clients shop in the food pantry. We need a banner with the date of Make a
Difference Day. Need to send out invitations. Need to find out more information
about budget to see what we can afford.
F. Military Project: Brought of the possibility of Quilts. Need to talk to Gail to collect
more information.
G. Business Sponsorship: Need to find someone to replace Leslie.
VI. New Business:
Leslie is leaving the commission, receives a goodbye gift
On future agenda, the order in which events are discussed will be based upon which
events have recently happened and/or are approaching
VII. Commissioner Comments
We need to get the word out about needing to add a commissioner.
VIII. Adjournment: Erik moved and Colleen seconded a motion to adjourn at. 8:27
pm. The motion passed.
