Wednesday, October 27, 2021 Special Meeting 7:00 to 8:30 pm Gamon Room, Wheaton City Hall I. Call to Order 7:03pm II. Welcome III. Roll Call a. Present: Tony Asta, Colleen Attwell, Krista Selvey, Laura Peccarelli, Meg Beasley, Katie Sivak, Jennifer Sever, Erica Nelson, Rachel Bautista, Marco Scola, Stephanie Henry. Absent: Saleha Jawaid b. Public: N/A IV. Approval of Minutes a. Tony motioned to approve, Colleen 2nd, approved unanimously V. Old Business a. Committee Updates i. National Hispanic Heritage Month (Rachel) – Posted on website. Cross promoting WPL event. Plan to offer more commission support next year. ii. Make a Difference Day (Meg) – PRC fulfilled all their volunteer slots. Unstuffed 17,400 lbs of food. PRC hopes for our help next year! VI. New Business – a. DWA Reindeer Project (Jen) – the reindeer arrives Nov. 19. Festival of Cultures theme. Gathering items to decorate the reindeer. More info to come. b. Poinsettias (Katie) – Nov. 30 – Dec. 1 pick-up. They are grown in the greenhouses at Cantigny. To be hand-delivered to our partners and sponsors. Order to be placed Nov. 15. Jen to make cards to be delivered with poinsettias. c. Katie resignation – You will be missed! d. Strategy Discussions – Tony to create a commissioner description. Krista to create a Google Calendar. Create opportunities for community involvement/contributions and have a voice (quarterly or bi-annual) – first one with students in February. Plan ahead for events/initiatives for budgeting purposes. Research some groups that we can create a partnership. Black history month – telling black history through residents and family history, partner with WPL and DuPage Historical Museum.
