Downtown Design Review Board

September 4, 2019 I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL The September 4, 2019 Downtown Design Review Board meeting was called to order in the Council Chambers of the Wheaton City Hall, 303 W. Wesley Street, Wheaton at 6:00 pm. On a roll call, the following were: Present: Paula Barrington, Nathan Bossenga, Tracy Jones, Kevin Maguire, Steph McGrath Absent: Craig Farnsworth City Staff: James P. Kozik AICP, Director of Planning & Economic Development II. PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – FEBRUARY 28, 2019 Ms. Jones moved and Ms. McGrath seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the February 28, 2019 Downtown Design Review Board meeting as submitted. On a voice vote, all voted aye. IV. NEW BUSINESS – 104 N. HALE STREET – BUILDING FAÇADE REPAIR Mr. Kozik stated that the owners of 104 N. Hale Street are seeking to apply a stucco finish over the existing painted masonry façade of their building rather than maintain the paint finish. Mr. Kozik stated that the work on the façade is being done to accommodate a new tenant, Images Med Spa. Ms. McGrath stated that given the condition of the brick, she is ok with the use of stucco as a finish. Other members of the Board concurred. Hearing no further questions or comments, Mr. Maguire then moved and Ms. Jones seconded a motion to approve the use of stucco as a finish as presented in the color black or in the alternative, cashmere.
