Roll Call: Chairman Ted Witte called the meeting to order at 7:30. Present were Shamili Ajgaonkar, Nancy
Allured, Cathy Coleman, Nancy Flynn, Kay McKeen, Tony Pope, Christine Richardson, and Bob Young. Absent
were Tony Majszak, David Popham, and Allison Torrence.
Minutes: Bob moved that we accept the minutes of the March meeting. Tony seconded. The minutes were
approved.
Public Comment: none
Budget Report: Bob reported that the year to date expenses totaled $841.50, leaving $20,658.50 open to spend.
Other Reports:
1. Adopt a Highway Report: Nancy Flynn reported that EIC is scheduled to clean up May 5. Workers
will meet at 8am.
2. Paper Shredding Report: Kay reported that 685 cars were counted. Next year we would like to be
open only 3 hours. We need a sign to guide participants to the exit. The paper was clean and able to
be recycled this year.
3. Electronic Recycling Report: On Saturday April 14, the EIC was represented by Bob Young, Dave
Popham, Allison Torrence, Brittany Drummond and Tony Pope. Two volunteers from Wheaton-
Warrenville South (Dylan Horbenko and Rebecca Oberhelman), two volunteers from North Central
College (Padgham Larson and Anna Halverson), five volunteers from DuPage Adult Special
Education Group, and six employees from E Works participated. There were 363 vehicles, with 283
from Wheaton, 31 from Glen Ellyn, 18 from Winfield, and 8 or less from 7 other communities. 355
fluorescent light bulbs and approximately 5 gallons of cooking oil were also recycled.
Upcoming Projects:
1. Electronic Recycling (May 12): Bob and Tony Pope will be crew chiefs. Kay reported that the city
plans to have someone there to videotape. Kay also reported that work will be done at the public
works yard area this summer, and it will probably require the cancellation of one monthly recycling
collection.
2. Arbor Day (April 27): Franklin Middle School at 2:15
3. Prairie Path Clean Up (April 28): Christine reported that there are lots of volunteers, and all of the
Wheaton path is covered.
4. Native Plant Sale (April 28): Tony reported that they have some volunteers for Friday set up at 9 am
and for the sale Saturday.
Unfinished Business:
1. Nurse’s Closet Medical Equipment Reuse: still looking for a location.
New Business:
1. Bob moved that we allocate up to $150 for refreshments at the April events. Nancy Allured seconded.
The motion carried.
Adjournment: Bob moved that the meeting be adjourned. Nancy Allured seconded. The meeting was adjourned at
8:25. The next regular EIC meeting is scheduled for May 22, 2018, at 7:30 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
