Environmental Improvement Commission

Tuesday, September 25, 2018 7:30 I. Call to Order : Ted called the meeting to order at 7:30. Present: were Shamili Ajgaonkar, Nancy Allured, Cathy Coleman, Nancy Flynn, Tony Pope, David Popham, Allison Torrence, and Bob Young. Tony Majszak, Kay McKeen, and Christine Richardson were absent. II. Approval of Minutes: Bob moved that the minutes from the August meeting be approved. Tony seconded. The minutes were approved. III. Budget Report: Bob reported that expenses totaled $26.25, leaving 973.75 open to spend. IV. Public Comment: None V. Reports: 1. Adopt a Highway: Nancy Flynn reported that EIC’s 4th clean up will be held this Saturday, September 29, at 8am. 2. Electronic Recycling: held at Green Fair 3. Green Fair: Kay sent a report that 357 cars came through, and 20,000 pounds of paper, 9 gallons of cooking oil, 30 bikes, a box of American flags, eyeglasses, keys, many items for SCARCE, medical supplies, and batteries and propane tanks were collected. Eworks sent 6 people, and there was a fairly steady stream which they were able to keep moving most of the time. VI. Upcoming Projects: 1. Electronics Recycling (October 13): The event will be held at the parking lot again, so only electronics will be collected. Bob and David will be there. 2. Pumpkin Composting Event (November 3) 3. Paper Shredding (April 6): Kay sent a report that three trucks are ordered, mercury thermometers will be collected, and E-paint will collect latex paint for reuse for a fee. VII. Unfinished Business: 1. Nurses Closet: Nancy Flynn is still hoping to find a location. 2. “Drains to River” Medallions: no report 3. Cherry Street Water Detention: no new information VIII. Adjournment Bob moved that the meeting be adjourned. Cathy seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00. The next regular EIC meeting is scheduled for October 23, 2018, at 7:30.
