Fine & Cultural Arts Commission

April 23, 2019 6:00 p.m. I. Call to Order President Mike Bock called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. Those present: Sarah Antas, Tony Asta, Mike Bock, Dee Hicks, Laurie Swanson Oberhelman, Kathy Young. Absent: Bill Austin. II. Agenda Items Mike Bock moved and Tony Asta seconded the approval of the agenda. Motion carried. Kathy Young moved and Dee Hicks seconded that the April 02 minutes be approved. Motion carried. III. Agenda Item The Burning Bush will host the golf artists July 7-20. This project will be named: Wheaton Fine Arts Commission featuring the Summer of Golf Artists. Laurie Swanson will advise Arin Thrower of change in dates. The community golf ball will be placed in front of the Burning Bush on either the 29 or 30 of June in time for the 4th of July parade. The Burning Bush will be open the 4th 2-3 hours after the finish of the parade. The artwork should be dropped off between June 30 and July. The artists are requested to sign a form donating 10% of any sales to the Burning Bush. There will be a reception on Friday July 12. The Burning Bush will supply cookies and coffee. Laurie and Dee will supplement will additional food. Laurie moved and Dee seconded to spend up to $100.00 for extra food. Motion carried. Agenda Item Music in the Park will be held June 27. The community golf ball should be at the event as well as the WFCAC banner used in the 2018 4th of July parade. Agenda Item Wheaton Festival of Cultures 2019. Students will be given form explaining ruled and regulations. Tony has prepared. Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville will be submitting art for poster. The deadline for applications is May 25 submitted to Tony. Each student will be asked to sign a waiver giving the WFCAC permission to use the art to promote the Festive of Cultures. The Commission will judge the poster art on May28, at the scheduled meeting. Agenda Item The City Council and Mayor should be invited to all events. Mike will talk with Sharon about extending the invitation. Adjournment Sarah moved and Laurie seconded that the meeting be adjourned at 6:38. Motion passed.
