January 28, 2020 I. Call to Order President Mike Bock called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. . Those present: Sarah Antas, Tony Asta, Mike Bock, Dee Hicks, Kathy Young. Absent: Laurie Swanson Oberhelman,. II. Agenda Items: Tony Asta moved and Mike Bock seconded the approval of the agenda. Motion carried Agenda Item Bill Austin: We will meet at Emmets at 5:30 on February 11 to present Bill with a pewter mug . Agenda Item (carried over from September 22 meeting) Future projects. Possible events: Fire plug painting. “Love Locks” on chain link fence. “Find the Art Bear”. Frames for pictures at cultural spots in Wheaton. Tree wraps. We will discuss the logistics of these projects at future meeting. Agenda Item New commissioner. Mike has received two applicants and will set up appointments for interview. It was suggested that we interview at next scheduled meeting, however it is felt that all members be present and Dee will be out of town so a special meeting will be called. Agenda Item Tony is asking for permission to contact Wheaton High Schools and offer a $100 award for a student to design a cover for the brochure of The Festival of Cultures scheduled to take place on September 13. Sarah moved and Kathy seconded the motion to offer $100 award to a student at the Wheaton High Schools. Hopefully this design can be used for all means of publicity for the event. It is estimated that there will be 30 culture booths and six venders at Memorial Park. We will help Tony to support this event. Agenda Item Music in the Park is scheduled for July 18. This project has always been handled by Bill Austin and we are considering renaming the event to honor Bill. This item is tabled for more discussion.
